A Clash of Earth and Sea (El Jefe Judging) [See Part II]

[SBLOCK=OOC]I just read the spell description, and considering what I wrote...

Velmont said:
As we move in front of the room with the suspended glass object, Opale will take a look, but will stay a few feet away from it at first. No need to fall into a trap again.

And what you wrote:

Patlin said:
Iggy notices a bit of writing on the bottom.

And what the spell dscription tells:

srd said:
Anyone next to the runes (close enough to read them) takes the full damage with no saving throw; any other creature within 10 feet of the runes is entitled to a Reflex save for half damage.

I would have expcted Opale to have stayed at 10 or 15 feet (let's say 10...) and would have tried to identify the liquid first. Iggy might have dare more and would have read the rune. What I mean, it is just with 5 hp, and wanted to be cautious, and going two persons instead of one and staying both just next to the item wasn't the idea of being cautious. I have been playing Rogue for a long time, I have seen my lot of traps.

I know I still explain myself after reading the result, and it is easy to complain after seeing the result (and I would probably never written something similar if you had told this was a potion of healing, Merrow size :D ) So, I'll keep your ruling... I am on teh shock of Losing Opale, not that she can't be reincarnated (raise dead start to be a bit too coastly for her).

Ok, note to myself: Detail what I do! Even more when it is Patlin teh DM ;)[/SBLOCK]

I'll tell you what, all the information I had was that you were going in together, so I figured you were acting in unison. If you each make a d20 roll, the person with the higher roll can be slightly further back and recieve a DC 15 reflex save on the explosive runes.

If Iggy is closer in, he read the rune. Otherwise, if Opale is closer in, Iggy said "What's that?" and Opale looked a bit closer to read the Rune.

(And yes, be very wary when I start wanting you to get specific on who's standing where... I tried to ask a specifically as I could without giving away the whole thing. Also, you might want to start searching. Do you realize not a single room of the dungeon has been searched so far, either for traps or for treasure? Jack would have detected the trap had he searched very carefully for it -- you can take 20 on search.)

Hearing the explosion, Planus groans, "Oh, no!" He sets down Ducane and moves to the door way, drawing his bow and an arrow. He fails to see what attacked them, though he notices the hanging crystal object is now gone. After a quick scan of the room, he checks on the condition of the two mages with less than thrilling results.

OOC:
Condition Review
Jack (9 of 25 hp, AC 19, Shield Other)
Planus healed Jack for another 14 in post 496.
If Patlin decides to give one or the other a save, Planus would be there in time to cast a stabalizing cure minor wounds. If not, well ... this quest can certainly take the prize for deadliest adventure.

OOC: Iggy's rolls: 11 (position)& 19 (reflex save).

I noticed we hadn't done any searching myself & was thinking I needed to post that today. Oh well. I hadn't read a description of Explosive runes since 1E. I might have done this or that or whatever, but I've no complaints. Dungeoneering is dangerous. I've never lost a PC after 3.5 years of active play, so I'm long overdue. Iggy would prefer reincarnation over raising dead if it comes to it.

[SBLOCK=OOC]No prob... it's true I have done all in a hurry and no one had search anything. It's true that asking ' where you are standing' could have told something like 'there is a trap or a monster coming...'. I think also it is a bit of the bad side of PbP. It is slow, and sometimes, things must be done to speed it up, and thus, I have seen that a bit rushing. I must tell I had miss the line where Iggy wrote he would inspect it.

Well, just thanks for teh chance for one of us to survive, you could have stand your ground (as I told, I would have followed your judgement... and with some badluck, it might change nothing to both of us too). Here my roll: 6. most likely it will be my death (or our death if Iggy fail his save). But if I am the farthest: I save with a 18 and I should be somewhere near the -8 hp...[/SBLOCK]

OOC: I've stop to count my dead chatacter in table top games... but in PbP, I have two of my character who died in 3 years of activity... well, make that 3, I roll under you.[/SBLOCK]

OOC: Yes, we've been in a bit of a hurry... Besides, aside from things like the portcullises, who's stupid enough to put deadly traps in the middle of their living quarters? ;)

Yep... And he would have, had Iggy and Opale been patient enough... or if I'd had a chance to post something, before you set the runes off. :\

OOC: Well, I'm happy to have Iggy alive, though a bit ashamed to have beaten Opale on the roll. Those things happen. In any case, Iggy is out & its up to the others to get everyone up the chimney!

[SBLOCK=OOC]Let's things move on... and with two dead on the arms, most likely you will reincarnate both. I am curious to know into what I will be reincarnate into...[/SBLOCK]
