Zack's rock splashed into the lake, sending ripples outward, to no immediate effect. (If the giant Kraken demanded by literary tradition is about to attack you, there is no indication.) :)

Anyone with Knowledge (Nature) may make one roll, and apply it to all 3 of the below DCs.

Knowledge (Nature) DC 12 [sblock]A merror is an aquatic ogre.[/sblock]

Knowledge (Nature) DC 18 [Sblock]Merrow can fight on land or in water, and can breathe comfortably in either situation.[/sblock]

Knowledge (Nature) DC 25 [Sblock]Some Ogres, called Ogre Mages, have magical powers. You've never heard of a Merrow Ogre Mage, but it's possible such a thing exists...[/sblock]

Will you start to walk around the lake, or is someone going to swim?

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 3/ranger 1

"Not sure what a merrow is. Must be able to live on land and in the water, though, for us the be useful. Let's take a walk around the lake. Maybe the merfolk have a place where they trade with us."

"Aye, let's walk around the lake for now. I have absolutely no idea about Merrows really.", Ducane says.

OOC: I've been a bit quiet lately, sorry... :uhoh:

All seems peacefull on the lakeshore and the group spends an uneventfull 15 minutes wandering about the southern side of the lake, when you notice a dark shape moving under the water. It's about 30 feet away from the shore, and doesn't seem inclined to come closed, but the smooth agressive movement through the water seems seeped in menace. The water isn't particularly clear, and you don't have a very good view of it, but the dark shape seems sort of fish shaped.

"Hey, let's pull back and be prepared. Hopefully any dangerous sea life would stay in the water, but you never know. We'll circle this lake until we find signs of life. And stay away from the water." says Iggy.

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 3/ranger 1

As they continue around the lake shore, Charlarn keeps looking over his shoulder at the spot where the dark shape was. "I hope we find the merfolk soon. I don't like the looks of that fish or whatever it was."

"Iggy, I wanna HIT something...." Sara has both her swords out and is twirling them absently to work off some energy. She keeps an eye on the dark spot, hoping to will it out of the water to attack them, but (barely) follows the halflings suggestion to stay away from the water. "I'm gonna forget how to hit things and then I won't be able to when you need me to, and then you'll be sorry...." she grumbles.
