A Clash of Earth and Sea (El Jefe Judging) [See Part II]

Zack positions himself so that he can flank the one that was wounded by the mage's magic if possible. He then takes a mighty swing at the abomination. Despite the force, there doesn't seem to be much effect on the creature.
"Wizard, what are these? It's like bounding on steel!"

OoC: Use 5ft. step to maneouver towards flanking position on the wounded one. Attack 23, Damage 12

Previously: In both the surprise round and round 1, Sara slashes away at the mosters, without any noticable effect.

Charlarn calls upon his god for strength, and Ducane intercedes between him and the monster.

Iggy blasts a monster for 7 damage.

Swinging with all his might, Zack finally lands a blow that seems to have some effect upon the moster. He deals 2 damage.

Round 2 Begins
In a flurry of attacks which prove mostly ineffective, the monsters attacking Sara and Ducane miss on all but one of their many attempts. One does manage to gore Ducane in the shoulder, however, dealing 7 damage. As the pain sears through him, the brave but not yet battle hardened fighter realized he cannot withstand another such blow.

I know he has magic weapon, but I don't want to meta-game.

ooc: It is, of course, your option to limit Charlarn's knowledge however you choose. However, if at some point in the combat you wish him to recall a mentor in the temple teaching him the prayer for magic weapon and explaining that it is of great utility against creatures warded against simple steel, that is also OK.

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 3/ranger 1

Charlarn sees a stonebird man pierce Ducane's defenses. Red blood seeps from the wound. The cleric's hand reaches for his silver falcon instead of his weapon. Trying to position himself away from the grasp of the creatures, he casts a healing prayer on Ducane, closing the hole. (casts cure light wounds in place of detect evil healing 10 hp). As he tallies his prayers, Charlarn recalls what his mentor told him about the magic weapon spell. Some of the stranger creatures have skin so tough that only magically enhanced weapons can hurt them effectively. The magic weapon prayer can give that bonus to mundane weapons. He thinks, I hope Sara can hold until I can cast this on her sword.

AC: 17; 18 vs. stonebird man he's facing.

(SRD link for monster is for DM Reference)

Initiative
"Stonebird Men" (20) 1: 9 damage
Sara (20) 22 damage
Charlarn (16) 12 damage
Ducane (12) 7 damage
Iggy (9)
Zack (9)

(All damage totals are as of my last post, and do not for example include the healing spell cast since then.)

Round 2 Continues
(Sara goes here. KB recently posted, so I'll assume she's back.)

Charlarn fully heals Ducane.

Ducane's swing misses the monster.

(Iggy goes here)

Zack chips away at the first monster for another 2 points of damage.

Anyone with the skill, Knowledge(Nature) DC 12 to ID the monsters (or 18 for more info.)

(sorry I've been missing)

Sara readies herself for the birdy's next pass into range, but strikes conservativly, ready to parry the beast's attacks as well. "Iggy, you need to learn to make me fly or something. That would be cool!" She privately considers that maybe she should find a less martially adept cleric to hold the heal stick and use it more. :p

(ready a single strike, fighting defensively, Attack +4, AC 19)

OOC: Does Charlarn have the wand again?

Sara looks like she's in bad shape. Charlarn moves over to her and attempts to heal her (casts cure moderate wounds in place of status healing 8 hp). He shouts above the sounds of battle, "Our weapons aren't hurting these creatures, but I have a prayer that might work. I need to touch your sword to use it, though."

HP: 14/26
