A constructive alternative to Golden Wyvern Adept feats.

As noted in the other thread, I vote for Golden Wyvern Spellshaper (or Spellshaper in the SRD). AND a note in the DMG explaining how to create your own wizard traditions.

I could certainly dig it. I could see it with any feat package, including related combat moves like a martial art style.

Dragon Style
1. Power Attack - Dragon Mighty Blow
2. Cleave - Dragon Tail Sweep
3. Bull Rush - Dragon Running Rush
4. Alertness - Dragon Hunting Sense
5. Skill focus (appraise) - Dragon Eye for Beauty

You get the picture...
Besides the "Golden Wyvern Spellshaper", that approach would be nice. Do people remember Monte Cook's "Malhavoc speaks"-columns in his Books of Eldritch Might? That reminds me of that.

Imagine that as a sidebar in the feats chapter:

Sanefune, Golden Wyvern Master speaks:
"The tradition of the Spellshaper Adepts traces
back to our Golden Wyvern Adepts, and our lore
and our training is still strong in any of these
spellshaper adepts, and of course, only true
masters of the ancient tradition of the Golden
Wyvern can teach the secrets of the Spell-
shaping Mastery, and only then, you will reach
the rank of a Golden Wyvern Master."

Or something like that, because stuff written on the fly isn't as good as stuff as stuff James Wyatt & co. can produce.

Cheers, LT.

I say get rid of "Golden Wyvern", but keep "Adept" to make it "cool" and "Arcane."

"Spellshaping Adept" works for me.

I misread this first and I thought you wanted it named something like the Cool Arcane Adept.

I'm still very much of the opinion that many of these names are just place holders and will not see the light of day in the finished product. It's just way too convenient that the "weird" names are so easy to cut and paste. You would never have to worry about editing later in the process because those three words "Golden Wyvern Adept" will only appear together as a placeholder.

I point to the fact that we see, in the same article that talks about GWA, three feats which look exactly like 3e feats. Why rename a small number with strange names and not all of them?

Just my prediction.
