A cool idea for a Cthulhu game

First Post
The movie Ghostbusters. Seriously.

So I'm sitting watching the movie on TNN this afternoon and the scene where they're all in jail and talking about the 'strange apartment complex' and it hits me, the backstory to Ghostbusters was very Cthulhu-like. I mean, you have the crazed doctor (who lived during the 20's I might add) who performed a lot of 'unnecessary surgery,' formed a cult to an ancient demonic being, built a tower that was meant to be a foci for spiritual energy, and sacrificed people to bring about the end of the world.
I don't know about anyone else, but if I ever run a Cthulhu game, it'll be something like this.

Just thought I'd share. ;)

Heh, could you imagine Ray, Egon, Spengler, and Peter giving a light-hearted spin to "At the Mountains of Madness"? I'd pay to see a movie version of that with the Ghostbusters crew.

Heck, they even made the sequel fun to watch, and the plot for that one was ridiculous.

Yeah, one of the quotes from that one was:
Peter: "So, this Cthulhu guy's bad, right?"
Egon: "He makes Gozer look like Little Mary Sunshine."

Speaking of this wonderful old cartoon and movies... where might one find them? I loved the cartoon when I was younger, but my homemade tapes of them are starting to disintegrate (the sound is pretty much gone on all of them). Are there any of these things online? In videostores? On TV in syndication?

The backstory of the Ghostbusters movie would make for some fun Cthulhu, especially if you were to just play around with the mad scientist architecht...

Heh.

"You're nothing but an unstable short-chain molecule! You have a weak electrochemical bond!"

But urgh, that movie was dire.

It had some lines, but it simply wasn't in the same league as the original.

Isn't that episode called "Collect Call of Cthulhu"? The script is posted on the web somewhere (maybe the author's web site).

The Collect Call of Cthulhu

ps. the original treatment has the scientists kicked out of a small New England college before making their way to New York City. Their New England laboratory was originally supposed to be an abandoned farmhouse.

Oh the possibilities!
