D&D General A Counterspell Smite

Heretic of The Seventh Circle
So, i have made two spells for my wizard character, that my dm for that game likes. He is open to different ways of doing them.

The first is similar to booming blade as a smite spell, except that the target takes damage at the start of their turn and again if they use the magic action. They can end the spell simply by ending their turn without using the magic action or concentrating on a spell. Since the damage is a single d6 in each case, i made it a 1st level spell, but the control is heavy enough that it should be 2nd.

The other is a 3rd level spell, reaction, when a spell is cast within 10ft. Move up to 10ft and make an attack with a d6 extra force damage. If you hit the target must make a con save or lose the spell (but not the spell slot).

I figure 3rd level works because it is so conditional, requiring they be nearby, you hit, and they fail the save, to get the full effect.

I had a way too complex spell that sent a psychic damage feedback between a caster and any creature they were magically controlling or conjuring/summoning, regardless of if you hit the summoner or the summon. I want to take another pass at it.

Anyone else have similar homebrew?

I made a "Lightning Rod" spell that draws lightning damage attacks/spells to a fixed point and harmlessly discharges them. Similiarly, a "Firequench" spell that suppress fire attacks/spell in a fixed area. They are essentially akin to FR's "Spell Engine" and "Anti-Magic Field" spells, though more specialized.

"Corpion's Nick" is a necromancy cantrip I created that deals damage equal to your spellcasting modifier to a target per round for a minute (they get a save each round, but the damage will still trigger Concentration checks) and a trickle of blood that can be tracked.

"Bestow Curse" is also a good spell if well-worded (and allowed by the DM) to become an anti-magic bane.

There's currently an official 5E spell that deals damage to targets that are charmed, though I forget the spell's name (it's on DDB, I think it's from Tasha's) - I'd use that as a template for your anti-control spell.

I will look for that, thank you.

I like those spells you made!

Corpion's Nick is wicked in the best way. Reminds me of a spell I made as an assassin's version of hex. Without going and looking it up, it deals the damage, and you can hear the target's heartbeat, which gives you advantage on checks to find them if hidden, and on Insight checks against them. (so, mood, motives, lying or not, etc)

I really like the idea of element specific countering spells. Like an area of effect protection spell that guards against one element, but I kinda think you could put them in one spell, maybe?

The lightning rod though, that sounds like a cool ranger spell. A higher level version could turn the lightning target or target area into one chosen by the caster when countering the effect. Ie, ranger casts Lightning Catcher, shooting an arrow at the incoming effect and drawing the lightning with it to a creature or space of the ranger's choosing.

It's the sort of thing that dnd just doesn't handle much at all, even though it is prevalent in fiction. Right up there with the mage throwing up a barrier against enemy attacks, magical or not, and having to put some sort of effort into maintaining the barrier, with the mage and allies being relatively safe until the barrier breaks.

WHich is why some day I will get around to making a bunch of force spells that create a tangible construct of force that has HP and can be broken with strong enough attacks. Besides new versions of old spells, I would also add something like an AoE Shield spell, possibly broken into a physical shield and a magical shield.
