Firstly, Windhaven is supposed to be able to be cropped into any setting.

On another note. My favortie city is Kenzer's Geanavue: Stones of piece. A very awesome product, and a cool city that could be placed into any world with a minimum of effort.

Geanavue isn't just a city filled with encounters... this city is ALIVE.

Check it out!

*appreciates Bov making a plug for Mithril and Hollowfaust* Btw, Bov, just in case you didn't hear, there's going to be sourcebook for the City of Pleasure, Shelzar. When I don't know BUT I know they are working on this.

Cool! thanks for the 'heads up'. BTW my Scarred Lands campaign ended tonight with the party stopping Sharliss from reassembling an aspect of Mormo (if she had succeded it would have created a sort of avatar of Mormo, very pwoerful but nowhere near the power of the true Titan). they actually managed to take down Sharliss but she had a little "contingency" plan for that ;). Now the PCs can relax and take things easy :D

Bov, Sweet! :) I still think Shaliss is one of the more under-rated players in the wars between titanspawn and divine races. But that near avatar of Mormo, NASTY! :) Glad it didn't come about. Still I'm glad Shaliss isn't TRULY dead. I had plans for her in another campaign run. ;)

John: Yeah I'm always impressed by you guys. I got Touched by the Gods, nearly HALF the mods you guys put out (didn't get Theives yet or Three days YET!), En Route, and of course seven strongholds.

Sayburr: I've seen it. It was in my gaming store (they carry anything that has WotC on it) It was okay...but not quite what I look for in a city. It wasn't quite as vibrant as I usually like. Still it was a good product just not my thing.

City

Freeport is a useful city, Bluffside is good also, however Geanavue, set in Kingdon of Kalamar, is very detailed and could be used with almost any game setting. I'd go with Geanavue

I would go with Freeport over Geanavue.

Freeport is the 'wild west' of fantasy gaming, with an adventure in every seedy tavern, smoke filled room, and ancient temple.

A friend of mine has Geanavue, and while flipping through it, it seemed kinda, well, boring. While I didn't read it cover to cover, it looked like a lawful good city with almost no crime, no violence, and no poverty. That might be a nice place to visit, but that's not where the kind of characters that I play and DM for would like to actually live!

I haven't seen Bluffside yet, but I have heard nothing but great things about it and am really looking forward to it.

Eh, Geanavue has alot to its darker side.

The Talarassa (Noble ruling Houses) have alot of Lawful Evil members, and political intrigue is some of the worst violence you can ever see: assassins, arson, hired thugs, vandalism...you name it.

Despite there not being a thieves guild, many independent thieves operate out of the city.

Two words: EVIL CULTS! Theres a bunch of them in the city, and they really love murder, rape, and causing alot of woes to the people of the city.

The poverty thing is sorta true, as the city is very, VERY prosperous, but the homeless do exist. In any city there are always those down on their luck.

Theres alot more to the darker side of Geanavue. I cant see how you can miss all that, ;) ;)

Cause I've seen DARKER in a cracker jack box. No offense but I just don't see this city going to the dogs like I do with Freeport or parts of Bluffside. There's just TOO much goodness flowing out of this city to make me believe that "Well maybe they need to get better police." Beside the LE adminstration...not quite believeable if you ask me.

Boy, what a dream this market has got to be for campaign-building GMs -- so much good stuff out there to use as building blocks!

Enhow!!

And what city would be complete without Backdrops? That may be the best $8.75 I have spent in gaming.
