Tonguez, if you are still interested but I whipped up a Cybernetic Engineer if you want a little help (of course discard if not interested ;))

===

Entered Tarius human, Guilder (Engineer); Expert 4;
Cybernetics: Visual Amplification (Cybernetic Eye replacements, +4 visual Notice checks), Nightvision Optics (Darkvision 60ft), and Engineer’s Eyes (+3 visual Notice checks and +4 Search checks where looking for small details would matter)

Thanks! Yes I am still interested and was about to attempt a character write up this afternoon.

Its also wonderful to see that apprarently we both have great minds as the first concept that came to me was to do an Engineer with visual enhancements so yeah at first glance I'm liking the character writeup - now allI have to do is dream up some background:)

PS I apologise for being late, I was away at a conference from Monday - Wednesday.

[sblock=Prologue]
Tarius turned his head slowly allowing time for the vision filters to adjust to the ambient light conditions. The Engineers eyes had been a natural enhancement for him to take, allowing him to better observe the small and intricate workings of the systems he worked with, a small sacrifice to make in pursuit of perfection.

Exiting the access port Tarius offered his customary devotions to the Pancreator, giving thanks for the the skill of his hand and the divine spark of creativity that had allowed him to tweak his vision filters to work even in full darkness.

Tarius was a tall man with an athletic build, curly hair upon his head and a wry intelligence. Ceramsteel tabs highlighted the orbits of his eyesockets and provided the setting for the cybernetic optics within.
He had got the enhancement upon graduation from the Academy, and they had proven an excellent investment as he went on to the guild assigned projects which eventually earned him status and his Imperial Badge

Tarius was also a devout beleiver in the Pancreator, he had often been commended by his tutors for the dedication he showed in purifying his tools according to the correct rituals as proscribed by the Supreme Order of Engineers.

Tarius was assured that even as surely as the divine spark could be seen in the stars so too had the Pancreator placed a spark of creativity within the heart of Humanity. The divine spark had given primitive humanity mastery over the flames of the fire and eventually taken them from Holy Terra to the Stars?

“It is man’s destiny to travel among the stars and to quest for knowledge” Tarius quoted the holy word that had been his inspiration to follow the Engineers path even whilst maintaining a strong faith.

Yes what the Pancreator had made was fit for its purpose and that purpose was that humanity should come to understand the intricacies of the universe and so perfect it.

To Tarius this was the logical conclusion and in improving on his physical limitations he was doing the will of the Pancreator. Yet Tarius also knew that such thoughts would mark him as a heretic should they ever be shared, fanaticism and ignorance had brought the Church to condemn such things as blasphemy and he was wise enough to keep his thoughts to himself...[/sblock]

LIFEPATH
Academy Training Tarius is the son of an Engineer and a Charioteer, both of whom were high ranking in their respective guilds and who were able to give the young Tarius training prior to his formal entry to the Academy. Being both studious and devout Tarius chose to specialise in Cybernetics as a way to better understand the Pancreators works. He also took an interest in history and the occult which were also to prove valuable in his career.

Guild Assignment Through his mothers status as a Navigator in the Charioteers, Tarius was able to join an Hawkwood sponsored expedition which involved diplomatic negotiations with the Vau. His mothers hope was that he would hone his skills both as an engineer but also as a dealmaker. Luckily his connection with the navigator allowed him to spend greater than normal time away from engineering, up on the bridge observing and learning.

His knowledge of the Vau language proved valuable on the expedition and the mission was able to broker trade and other deals, some of which he was not permitted to participate in. Nonetheless it was through this experience that he gained both his guild rank and the offer of an Imperial Badge which he was glad to accept...

Before writing this part I'm interested in what the other players are doing and how they see us 'coming together'. In particular I'd be interested in PC (especially any Church based ones) views of Engineers and Cybernetics.

Very cool Tonguez. As for how you were gathered together, I leave that mostly up to you. I am going to have one NPC, a Charioteers. I am still working on the specifics but I think that Dame Venus father and the Phoenix Order combining to 'rent' her and your 'group' a ship (debating the type right now) to support her 'quest'.

One of the reasons for coming to Nowhere to seek out the Gargoyle might be because shortly after Venus joined the Phoenix Order she visited a 'wise woman' or seeker on Byzantium Secundus (the Imperial capital world) who told her that she would discover her destiny “Nowhere”.

Now then, ObiAndy, the Brother Battle? :) very close to starting...

Considering how much time Roz spends with decados nobles, she would be used to cybernetics. She feels that the ability to use "tabooed" technology is a mark of sophistication, prestigious, and exclusivity which separates its owner from the masses of tech deprived peasants. Roz often finds herself envious of engineers respectfully fears them do to their knowledge of how technology works.

It's coming!! I swear!! I'll post what I have above. Sorry, but I work overnights in a ER and we've been short staffed and slammed.

Edit: Oh yea I look over what you had posted... looks good, and your Favored Feats would be: Attack Specialization, Die Hard, Suggestion, and Unbalance Opponent

[Edit: After posting this, I got to thinking. Would the Hawkwood noble be the "main noble" by default simply because the House is of higher rank? After all, part of Roz's character background is her desire to raise her own House's status. Perhaps that character would be the "main noble," which would mean there'd need to be a reason my character, Venus, would submit to being a secondary figure. Hmmm...need to think on this a bit...I'm liking it!]

I would be cool with either BUT Roz does not get the Questing Knight Badge for free, which the Hawkwood should... NOW I could edit this if you both agree... then Venus would not get the extra feat and Roz would... again up to the two of you :)

I'm cool with Roz being the "secondary" noble. It makes more sense that she doesnt have the badge since it means she has to do more to be accepted by the noble elites.

Ok, so why would she and Venus be working together?

Perhaps she's p.o.-ed by the bad treatment by the Decados and is trying to curry favor with a Hawkwood [even a lesser born family member]?

Or a business arrangement?

She could have "something" on Venus...like a threat to humiliate her because she's a Psychic?

I'm rolling with the idea that Venus received a prophecy, so that's why she's organizing a Quest.

Perhaps the 2 are actually friendly despite previous political alliances?

I'm thinking that innitially, they came to work together because Roz wrongfully thought it would aid her in getting acceptance with the Decados (because she was naive enough to believed a lie told by a Decados she "trusted"). Once she began to interact with Venus, she would have came to the conclusion that the Hawkwoods were not as bad as the Decados would claim they are, and that anything was better then being stuck on Cavadus with scores of Decados nobles who either enjoyed insulting her or only gave her lipservice for respect since she was good at dueling. Thus distancing herself her house's previous allies wouldn't be considered that much of a horrible of a fate.

So yeah, she would be friendly with Venus considering that the alternative wouldn't be worth it.
