"I cannot tell. There are too many ears, here. Free me, and I will lead you to the beginning of the path."
"You would have me free you on your word alone that this can be done and so easily. You have betrayed so many why should I think this time is any different. Unless you can give me something they will have you killed. Why give us a chance at this new life now when before you simply wanted to crush it?"

"Would you have listened on the battlefield?"
"You had other times to ask us. Your master has had many chances, yet seems to think us not worth it. If he feels this way why would you feel otherwise. Penny for instance could have been used by you for this very thing."

"Don't play games with me. You have always had the chance to walk the shadowpath - I offer it again, now - you have me in your clutches. But on the field, I would be a fool to show you such mercy. You would be the same to offer it to me. Or do you not recall that no quarter was offered mere days ago?"

"I was not offered quarter. Nor was Nightgrove. You would have been a fool to offer it, and neither of us would have taken it."
"Do you not stand here by our mercy. We chose not to kill you more then you gave us."

"If that is not mercy, however foolishly given, I do not know what is."

She smiles - a twisted expression that seems to curdle whatever remains of your last meal in your stomach, "I would never have offered you quarter. And yet, you see this is a flaw - a taint upon my soul, despite the fact that you would claim to have been no more merciful. You had the opportunity to take me alive. You did. But don't imagine for a second that that act of feigned mercy seperates us in anyway. You are predators who believe you are prey."

"You have come to believe in your own infallibility, haven't you? Of course, you should never have offered me quarter - for the same reason that neither I nor Nightgrove would have offered it to you. You are a killer. As are we. We kill - we murder for pleasure and call it 'war'."

"You call it war. We are not so weak to require such an emotional crutch. We murder because we must. Because it is who we are. Because those we kill are undeserving of whatever spark of life has chosen to rest in their mortal shells. These people cannot survive without someone like you - so why let them? Let them die - it is all that they have earned."
