A "faraway from home" drow

Hello everybody!!

Happy New Year to everyone who celebrates it :D

The point of my thread is getting ideas for defenses or "friends" (neither allies nor cohorts sound right either) for a Drow NPC.

Firstly, the story so far:

LONG STORY (detailed)

Fourteen years ago there was an evil adventuring group that consisted of three players, a human necromancer, a dwarven priest of the god of evil and a dwarven warrior. The human necromancer was being observed too close by one of the biggest Dead Cults. The Drow, who were familiar with the Cult, became aware of that and sent one of theirs to investigate what was the deal with that wizard. Of course they couldn't send a priestess without passing unnoticed so they decided to send one of their lesser soldiers (a male) with the excuse to "learn from the above world" and scry regularly on him.

That soldier was a drow pc, a fighter (whose player was also my first DM but that's another story).

All would have ended properly if it weren't for a plane transition. The cult was following the necromancer because he appeared in some prophecies of their homeland (which of course wasn't on the plane they were living). Once they made contact with him they took him to another land, a distant land, a desert land, in a distant plane, another prime plane.

The drow and the dwarves went through the portal with them, and after the dwarves perished the drow decided to escape before reaching civilized land.

That was the end of that pc (but not of the character) he never played with us again, but a lose drow in a world were there are unheard of was something to nice to pass of.

This is what I've decided so far:

The drow went to a mountainous area to search for an entry to the underdark or to communicate with his people. Of course, he couldn't. And after a few incursions in the "depth of the earth" and nearly losing his life every time he tried, he desisted (the underdark is a gate to the realm of the dead in the Abyss, and not only is it populated, at its lowest levels, by demons but its environment is deadly to any non-outsider, heavy fortitude ST each day or each hour and some Will save too).

The drow found his place in a little frontier city in the border of the mountains. A free city that has its own rules and is not bothered by the Empire.

The city's main resource is gladiatorial arenas and lots and lots of black markets.

Now the party (the necromancer, the rest of the "original" party is dead) has to find the drow (the easy part) and kill him (the hardest part).

I've already decided that since he had a life in a very very dangerous and treacherous city he is accoustumed to the lifestyle and that he grew to become a big boss (like a mafia boss) in that free city (that grew a lot in the last four years).

SHORT STORY (few details)

A drow from another plane of existance is now a "mafia boss" in a free gladiatorial city in a desert world (where drow are unheard of).

QUESTIONS

Do you think Lolth or the other drows could track him down without having any information of his wereabouts?

If you were the drow:

Would you try to contact Lolth or other drows through interdimensional communications?

What would your defenses be?
Since the drow world is a magic world I thought of having one or two wizards hired, a psionic Illithid (there are Illithids in the world) and lots and lots of poison traps.

And anymore ideas you can come of. I know this is hard, but this character is the only one who's "hanging" from the plot and I would like to conclude the story.

By now he should be a 15th - 17th level character.

(Lolth is also unheard of in the world)

Any help or even questions to help me think would be greatly appreaciated =)

He should have some powerful muscle -- say, a half-ogre -- as his enforcer. And a few hobgoblins as his "soldiers." And a beautiful (half-elf?) femme fatale as his lover/pet assassin.
