A few loose ends to tie up...

Vince, good game. I had a blast! I wanted to touch on a couple of loose ends, since we aren't playing for a while, I guess.

1) The crime family (whose name I can't recall, because I have been calling them Las Vegas in my head) wanted us to bring in one of their old assassins who left to join the cult. I suspect it was the woman in the alley I spiked. Yes? No? Wasn't there a reward in there somewhere for us if we took the assassin out?

2) Venko's Hall had a co-owner. Who is that and can we convince him to turn over his shares to us in a reasonable way? Any chance he was one of the dead cultists?

3) The Chief High Inquisitor woman who was coordinating all this. Was she thrown out on her ear when this all comes to light? Or is she still in place and plotting her revenge against us?

I had a good time as well!

2) I think both the owners are dead -- Venkos "the Scaly" turned his back on me (let that be a lesson to the rest of you!) and the sorcerer we killed in the alley was the other owner.

3) We can see to it that her role in this is brought to light by the notes that were written. It occurs to me that blackmail might be an option, but maybe not the safest!

Vince, it sounds like it might be fun to continue in Shadizar, if only for a time, since there are at least 2 of us putting down some roots here.

I'm also curious to know the number and type of mercenaries I have under my command now, as well as who I report to in the CoC. (FYI -- part of my back story involved me robbing my previous command of their cashbox -- that's the chest of silver that got thrown at the guard as they charged into the brothel in the first fight. The leader of that corp was named Publius)

Yeah, ditto here. Yuri is all about pillaging this city for all it is worth. It feels strangely like... home.

I've pretty much decided to take a level of Noble with Yuri, as he becomes a member of the crime family. I would suggest we make either Venkho's Hall or the Inn our headquarters (I could see some real benefits for the basement of the Hall. Don't pay your bookie, into the basement with you :) Then we can see what riches and adventures there are to be had here. That is, until we are run out of town on a rail :)

But we need to come up with a new name for the hall and I'm just not happy with Yuri's Hall. How about the Stoned Demon? (figured this would get a chuckle out of Chris at least.)

I had a decent time, while I lasted. I was pretty much getting bored with Boris. Especially, since he died last session. Though, he was fate pointed back to life, but still, I grew tired of him. So, before I play again, I'm going to write up yet another character to be slaughtered in a future game session, cause I forgot about fate points. Perhaps this time, I'll focus on defence.

Heya OG,

I feel your pain and I realize this isn't going to help you any since you are sick of the character, but he DID NOT die last game. Fate Points are a part of this game, a valid, integral part of the game. He didn't die anymore than if you had made a saving throw and avoided death. ("Well that fall killed me, never mind that I made my saving throw.") It never happened. He COULD have died, sure. But you spent the fate point and the death was averted. That is what they are there for, to allow the players to take control of the own, umm, fate.

Like last night. I made a crappy roll at a critical moment (trying to imprison the demon, I rolled a 4 and even with the +18 bonus we pulled together, it woulda sucked.) I fate pointed it and re-rolled (19 on the second roll.) If my first roll would have stood, the demon would have killed us all. But the re-roll was high enough that the demon couldn't escape. We won, we saved the day and Shadizar is safe to return to its wicked ways.

I understand being bored with a character. Maybe a scholar or noble or some other non-front line fighter character would be more interesting. Are you bored with Conan, fantasy games in general, D20, RPGs overall? If there is some other system you want to try, I'd be cool with that.

Actually, he did die. At least to me he did. Nothing was said about fate points, until I actually crumpled up the character. Since I'm not a packrat of dead characters, I usually destroy my old characters.

But, yes I spent the fate point. Was I pissed that the character just died? No, probably more pissed with myself for not yet figuring out a way to survive in this game. So, I'll be making character #10 and see what happens. The day that I get bored with Conan is the day that I keep a character for more than 5 sessions.

I've played the two types of scholars, the borderer, the barbarian, the soldier, the pirate, I have no interest in the noble. My pirate character is the only one alive, though MIA.

I'm not bored of fantasy games in general. I'm sure everyone knows my general thought of d20, but I still play it.

You know, I think I now understand what is wrong with me. I think I'm just not a sunday gamer. Who knows. I know that I don't know.

I hope the above has many confusing and contradicting sentences. Mostly, they were random thoughts that jumbled into this post.

Now, that I think about it, the best time I had with Conan was when Odovacar was alive. Since then, I seem to have had a less fun time with it.

Thormagni,

1. Josyp the assassin is still out there, still hunted by the crime family.

2. Both owners are dead.

3. The powers-that-be are still unaware of her actions.

OG,

If you are unhappy with your character, play a different one. Play something you can get into!

Ha! Yes! That's the perfect name! We could run it like an Inn or a Tavern with all the shady operations taking place in secret areas. :)

Edit - We should name it the Stone Demon and have a gargoyle motiff.

Cool! and we could print up shirts and give out frequent shopper cards! I think the bar should have recessed mood lighting and maybe a piano in the corner with candles and fresh cut flowers! Oooooh, I'm gonna so get into this! What do you guys think about doing the North wall in burgundy with a gold wash and then royal blue with the same gold wash as an accent wall.

Seriously -- I think after our last adventure, we should carve a tentacled sign holding a flagon and call it "The Thing That Drinks".
