A few questions on Spiritual Weapon...

First Post
I am sure some of this is covered under the spell description, but I thought I would lump all my questions about this spell in one post...

Spiritual Weapon has a range of Medium (100ft+10ft/level), and you can switch targets as a move-equiv action. So let's say you are attacking a creature with this spell, and want to switch to a target that is 100ft away from that target. How long does it take for the spiritual weapon to reach the new target? Is it instantaneous?

Second, can you cast spells on Spiritual Weapon? Such as Greater Magic Weapon or Silence?

Third, how many Spiritual Weapons can you have up at one time? Is it just limited to however many times you have it memorized/prepared/free slots?

Fourth, does it suffer from Spell Resistance? If you attempt to attack a creature with SR, do you have to roll to bypass SR every time you make a successful attack?

I know you can't flank with Spiritual Weapons, but can you make AoOs with them? I assume not, but why? Does it say you do not threaten with Spiritual weapon? (IDHMBOMATM)

The spell doesn't have a movement speed, so the switch is instantaneous - just like, say, Spectral Hand.

The effect of Spiritual Weapon is "Magic weapon of force." Thus, anything which could be targeted on a weapon could be targeted on a Spiritual Weapon.

Third, how many Spiritual Weapons can you have up at one time? Is it just limited to however many times you have it memorized/prepared/free slots?

How many can you cast before they start running out? :)

Fourth, does it suffer from Spell Resistance? If you attempt to attack a creature with SR, do you have to roll to bypass SR every time you make a successful attack?

SW is a Spell Resistance: Yes spell. Furthermore:

If an attacked creature has spell resistance, you make a caster level check (1d20 + caster level) against that spell resistance the first time the spiritual weapon strikes it. If the weapon is successfully resisted, the spell is dispelled. If not, the weapon has its normal full effect on that creature for the duration of the spell.

So, if you retarget your SW, there's a possibility it will wink out.

Spiritual weapons do not threaten. Therefore, they cannot take AoOs.

What happens if the caster is adjecant to the target? What square does the weapon occupy if any?

What happens if the caster and target start grappling? What square does the weapon occupy if any?

It's a tiny object (which can be inferred from the spell information).

That being said, it attacks from whatever square is inbetween you and the target. Your own square is a perfectly valid place to attack from. :)
