A gift from a God

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but feel free to move if I'm mistaken :o

One of my players (a 16th/17th level Cleric) will get a present from his God (a God of Good / Healing and Anti-Undead, kinda like Pelor).
I decided he would give him a Robe, maybe like some kind of Armor-Robe.

The player currently has an armor (a Full Plate Armor with lots of magic on it) and since he can't be wearing the armor no more (long story) I decided that the present should be something to replace that wonderful armor.
Any ideas?

Simple:

Robe grants him a sacred bonus to his AC and saves against undead as well as casts greater healing circle three times a day. Also can cast sunburst once per day. (Unless you want just a regular deflection bonus to his AC...)

Give him an Ascot: Protection vs. Vorpal weapons, a smoking jacket of scintillating colors, and garters of speed.

Since it is coming directly from a god, why make it an item. Why not have him whip up some of that godly power and divinely alter or empower him in someway. Personally I think it might come across as more special since it doesn't lie within what can normally be acquired by a PC. Just think of it as giving him an item that is hard to lose and doesn't take up a specific slot.

This from the guy playing a pyrokineist. :p :)

My good non war gods give trinkets, rings, beads, charms, and other small little things. Things like protection vs ? or pluses vs ?. The Question is what the god's chief foe is.

For you I think I would do a charm (symbol of god) that provides protection vs undead.

I like the idea of something being intrinsic to the character, and not being an item that can be lost. Tattoes come to mind. Birthmarks. Additional body part, or modification to an existing one. Things of that nature.

Runner up would be a jewelry item that would be noticable (free adverts for the god...) - like a pendant, large ring, bracer, etc.

Me, too. Call it Armor of Faith or Faith Plate and simply make it a sacred bonus to AC.

There may be a Geas/Quest associated with the bestowed gift (optional, of course) and/or it could be a bonus that increases as the character advances (and serves his patron deity).

When you bestow this upon the cleric be sure to give a detailed and compelling description of the event - either a personal epiphany or something that the whole party can witness.

Cheers

How about one of these:
  • a +4 Intrinsic bonus to Wisdom
  • a +4 Intrinsic bonus to Con
  • Greater Turning +2/day
  • a +4 Intrinsic bonus to Natural Armor
  • an extra Domain
