A Gleeful Wager

Well, (Spoiler!) <SPOILER>New Directions didn't win regionals after all, but it was despite, not because, Sue being one of the judges. Thankfully, she was able to get the principal to keep glee for another year (good thing, the show has already been renewed for two more seasons). Also Quinn had her baby, and Shelby adopted her. Beth Corcoran has the same birthday as I do. I wonder if they'll take on Vocal Adrenaline next season. <SPOILER>

The playlist for the finale:

Aural Intensity sings a mashup of "You Raise Me Up", originally performed by Josh Groban, and "Magic", originally performed by Olivia Newton-John (this is the only song not included on Glee: The Music - Journey to Regionals)

New Directions sings a medley of Journey tunes (including "Don't Stop Believin')

Vocal Adrenaline sings "Bohemian Rhapsody", originally performed by Queen

New Directions sings "To Sir With Love", originally performed by Lulu <SPOILER>(EVERYBODY, not just Rachel and Finn, gets a verse in this song, the irony is that if they had sung this during regionals, maybe they would have had a better chance of beating Vocal Adrenaline, who always sing together)<SPOILER>

Mr. Shu and Puck sing "Over the Rainbow", originally performed by Judy Garland

This was the last episode of the season. I'll see you in September.

[sblock]Well it was predictable as hell that Quinn was going to have her baby in the last episode, but it was still quite a nice episode. It embraced its cheesiness and was still quite touching and saccharine-sweet at times but didn't quite choke.

And the nastiness of ONJ and Josh Groban was what I kinda expected from the show. And Jane Lynch is still incredible.

I don't know, I'm getting really frustrated with Sue always coming out on top. She needs to be slapped. The only thing that I like about her is that she truly seems to care for the kids.

Otherwise, I'm actually surprised that they didn't even place in Regionals. I was fully expecting them to win.

I feel bad for Rachel since her own mother doesn't want to be a mom to her.

So I now wonder who the new faces will be for next season.

Somewhere down the future I can see Beth coming to the school with the Schu.

Sue isn't thetypical evil antagonist. She has growth away from being a pure... jerk.

I was expecting they'd not win. That leaves them with fewer goals for the future.

I disagree - it isn't that she doesn't want to, it is that she feels she can't, as in it is not possible for them to have that kind of relationship at this late point.

So I now wonder who the new faces will be for next season.

I wonder what they'll be using for a primary conflict, if anything.

Except that she adopted Beth. So that signifies won't as opposed to can't.

I don't think Sue came out on top. She really got stomped and belittled by ONJ in the jury room. But the ending was kinda Hollywood and probably shows how divided the show is in depicting her. The nasty b_tch with a heart of gold in there... somewhere.

I was expecting them to place but not win. Well it sets the stage for next season.

You think bonding and developing a mother-daughter relationship with a newborn is somehow similar to doing so with a 16-year-old? I don't.

I could see someone feeling the former is something they can do, while the latter they couldn't manage it. By the time they built a full relationship and rapport, Rachel would be a legal adult.

Except that she adopted Beth. So that signifies won't as opposed to can't.

This was touched on in the Lady Gaga episode --

The mother (forget her name) doesn't feel she can build a real mother-daughter relationship because she missed out on the growing up (she said something to that effect when Rachel made a comment about how when she was younger, her fathers would bring her water - something like that). So she said she wanted a real mother-daughter bond, and to call herself a mother now wouldn't be like being a real mother, just in name. And instead they could be more like friends.

So it's more about how she wants the relationship with the child to be its mother as it grows, as she is going to do with Beth.

(at least that is how i remember the lady gaga episode, perhaps i'm remembering wrong)
