for DonTadow
Jerry Falwell has died closed for blatantly breaking the no-politics no-religion rule. I am frankly surprised that the thread made it past Umbran's visit. Despite Jesus_marley's disclaimer, it can easily be argued that starting that thread gets him membership to the Troll Hall of Fame.
I'm opening up two Dread Games at about 10pm tonight closed to avert scheduling confusion.
Beauty and the D&D Geek closed because experience shows any two-sided discussion of bashing inevitably becomes a two-sided frenzy of bashing.
Why deadhorse beating is bad closed for waste of resources and lack of taste or wit.
4th Annual Nothingland/Nutkinland Dinner and C'thulhu closed to avert vermicious scheduling confusion.
Why do elves suck closed for waste of resources and lack of taste or wit.
OK, so maybe that elf-thread closure jumped the gun a bit, since its existence seemed to invite users to blow off steam. I wasn't aware of the closure; I didn't read the thread because I thought the topic was stupid. Not closing it, though, would invite "Why do half-orcs suck" and "Why do gnomes suck" and "Why do half-celestial tauric drow suck" threads to proliferate. The banhammer is used proactively more often than reactively. Getting rid of shiat like that keeps the General forum readable, varied, and interesting.
Moderators: I'm creating this thread as a way to talk semi-publicly with DonTadow. I could have PMed this, but then everyone who read his two(!) anti-PCat threads would lose the benefit of my "legwork." This kind of post cannot be made by a moderator, since that would appear heavy-handed. This is the kind of thing that users need to discuss amongst themselves, and yeah, maybe it's about time users discussed moderation -- with each other -- without declaring open warfare on the mods.
