Sadly, a lot of people who probably wouldn't consider acting this way towards other forum members happily do so towards WOTC. Posts like, "Fireball has a critical chance now? THE GAME IS BROKEN!" are worthless. Posts like, "Fireball has a critical chance? That could cause some problems. I wonder if they've done anything about them? Here are some ideas I've got," are awesome.
This post is awesome. Great analysis.

Why? Who are you that I should care what you want? Some of these people you are complaining about have been here since is was Eric Noah's rumour page. I generally stay out of the 4e forum as I've decided not to play 4th so I've missed most of what you are complaining about but I'll go ahead and give my opinion.

I'm sure d20 fantasy 2nd edition is going to be a fun game. But it won't be D&D to me just because it has the official logo on it. I've read enough to know that it's not the game for me. Wizards with at will abilities is not D&D. Tieflings as a core race is not D&D to me. Wizards of the Coast has fired me as a customer.

So go off somewhere quiet and let others share their opinion.
...Tell you what, Son of Thunder. Please go reread my post #27 in this thread -- you remember, the one about not being a jerk to people -- then tone down the hostility in the future. Most of your post is great, both apropos and interesting, but it sure could have been said without the angry dismissiveness of that last line.

Could we agree to a moratorium on 3.5 grognardry in the 4th Editon forum? . . .

So, from all of us who are looking forward to 4e on some level, whether it's with mild enthusiasm or full-blown 4e sycophancy -- if you plan on sticking with 3.5 and have made that decision, please stop posting in the 4e forum.

I read this as asking for a "safe haven" for undisturbed 4e happy, happy talk.

Isn't that available over at the Wotc official forums (Wizards or Gleemax or whatever it is nowadays) where one can suckle rich, milky 4e goodness directly from Wotc's teat?

If perchance even the Wotc official forums offer no relief from grumbling/complaining about 4e, I think that should tell you something.

That seems a little trivial. There are maybe a couple of 3.5 grognards here. I think virtually everyone else is interested in 4e, and most of us are likely to try it. I prefer a well-rounded, open discussion. When you say "grognard" I hear bias.

Have you been there, recently? :) There's about as many complaints there as here, even outside of the concerns and criticisms forum they have, so their mods are also having trouble getting people to follow civility rules, too.

...and some of the complaints I've read over there really, REALLY make no sense. I mean, almost "Timecube" levels of sense.

I'm not saying you have to be a "Wormwood", here -- you don't have to think most 4e changes are the Bestest Thing Evar to participate --

LoL! Now that's funny!

So it's official, "Your opinion is OFFICIALLY unwanted here". Yay freedom of expression!

"I for one welcome our new fruity masters!"

I do wish there were a sub-section of the forum devoted just to speculation. Those of us who are following the 4e development and reveals would probably appreciate a little corner to discuss the possibilities and not have it derailed by whether someone is buying it or not or if someone likes it or not. One corner for "what's it going to be?" the rest for "do I like it?"

But isn't this true? If you have really decided to stick to 3.5 no matter what there will be for 4th edition, why do you post at all in a 4th edition forum? You would only do this if you really were potentially interested in buying and playing the upcoming rules-set.
However, some people really only want to disrupt meaningful discussions, and constantly mention that they'll be sticking to 3.5, because they've invested so much money in it and are happy with the rules for now. We are all glad that they are happy with 3.5, but it's when they come to the 4th edition message board and try to ruin discussions out of sheer spite that a new edition is coming out, that's when it's really getting tiresome.

I'm planning on sticking with 3e. Or 3.5, I guess. Or maybe something other than D&D altogether (my preference, but not my groups overall.)

But I'm still really curious about 4e. I still think it's fun to debate the relative merits and flaws of the design tidbits we've seen.

Plus, I'm going to be combing through the new SRD in some detail looking for things I can houserule into my game that won't disturb it overmuch.

Even 3.5 players have reasons to discuss 4e.

Although I do agree that content-lite thread-crapping rants don't do anyone any good.
