A monster. A class. A template.

Mephistophlings

Here's one that gave my players trouble (Halfling, Sorcerer, Half-Fiend):

Mephistophlings: These insidious creatures are minor devils are an amusing and annoying creation of their namesake, Mephistopheles, Lord of the 8th (See the Book of Vile Deeds). They delight in causing pain and suffering, leaving a trail of it wherever they go.

Each Mephistophling appears to be a miniture, bat-winged devil about the size of a halfling resembling Mephistopheles. While the similarity to Mephistopheles is noticeable, there is enough variation in their appearances that you can tell them apart. They enjoy hurling about their Hellfire-themed Vile Magic Missiles or Scorching Rays while they cackle with glee. Most Mephistophlings carry a small, 3-tined, pitchfork-like spear and wear ratty black garments (much like their namesake).

ml3 did up a picture of them for me. :)

Illithid with the Pseudonatural template and levels of Psychic Warrior.

A monstrosity from beyond time and space come to tear out the minds and very souls of it's victims, and enslave the world to use as cattle for all eternity.

That's a freaky-cool idea!

How about a half-fiend raven sorcerer/warlock? Give it a human companion so it can pretend to be the "familiar." Requires you to either bend the rules a tiny bit or just say that the raven's had Awaken cast on it (since half-fiend requires 4 intelliegence).

A red or gold dragon ghost would be interesting. Not too complex, but I could see it being tricky if it somehow can hide its ghost nature.

Gravetouched Ghoul Mimic Rogue

Like the title says, ye olde mimic ghoul hangs out in graveyards disguised as a tombstone/grave, and catches unaware passersby. It lashes out with pseudopods that look surprisingly like skeletal hands reaching up from the grave. These pseudopods paralyze, in addition to benefitting from the mimic's adhesive ability. While it's prey is paralyzed, it sneak attacks them all the way to the ... er ... grave, where it digests them by appearing to "pull them into the grave".

Hey look, it's a D&D version of Mini-Me!

Doctor Evil is probably Lawful Evil, right? ...Okay, maybe not. But still, Mephistopheles could easily produce plans like the "Alan Parsons Project" or "Preparation H" with less-silly names.
