A New Idea for YBA: The Item Shop!

Rathan

First Post
I was thinking.... instead of just discarding old weapons for the yen to buy new ones..... it might add a little flavor if the weapons you discard were sold to a shop for the yen.....a little bargining would be encouraged... and the weapons once sold could be displayed to other PC's with the option to buy them..... I thought it would be a new and intresting touch to the buying and selling of items and the like...

I have a basic idea of how I want to run it.... if I would be aloowed to run it.... but please suggestions and comments would be more than welcome.... so give me a shout with your idea and such in this thread if you'd like :D

ahh.... see there's the beauty CS.... you sell the item that you have now lets say.... a +2 whip (+3 to whip moves) for 7.5 yen, as the selling price goes, to buy something else that fits your character better... the shop keeper gives you 7.5 yen for it then puts it up for sale in his shop for lets say.... 12 yen.....

In this case you get back the selling price of the item as normal...and some other luckysoul has the chance to buy that item at a reduced cost and the weapon then doesn't just go to limbo as is the case for alot of items in YBA.....

Now if you's like you would be able to bargin with the shop keeper IC to try and get back maybe 9 yen for the item you sold as well...... which another good part of this......

BUT... as I said..... I'll feedback from more people to see if this is a good idea and if I can get a go on this idea.....

Its an interesting idea but IMO you need a player character to bankroll it otherwise infinite items at a discounted price are gonna increase the PC/Monster power imbalance even further. However if a PC has a stake in it, ie HIS/HER money getting eaten, money won't appear from nowhere, an he might even make a profit since if he buys for 0.75 times the items worth and sells for 0.9 times there is a profit to be made and the buy/seller gets a better deal than from the item shop still.

well..... so much for me running the Item Shop then... at least for a while.... my character is trying to fill his spellbook right now and needs to devote most of his yen to that...... I guess I could put it off and start saving some money towards this...but I really didn't want it that complicated... I mean the weapons you guys just cast away are being wasted....I don't see why we can't have a "REAL" items shop to sell the discarded items to for the yen..... rather than just assuming we do between sessions..... I mean I just wanted to add some flavor to the game that's all...anf give very slight discounts on preowned items..... I don;t really see why backing is really needed..

I'll agree with Kalanyr. Now this little problem arises, who's going to bankroll? I know of a few rich characters, and those that can afford a great deal, but for the most part I'm thinking that there should also be special powers for being a 'trader'.

I think I want to start up a Bounty Hunter/Assassin character now...

I'm really thinking about doing this if approved.... I'll just need to wait for Kaldaron to bank some money before I can put this plan into action....

Donations Welcomed! :D *lol*
