D&D 5E A Party of One Class

Druids!

There's almost no role I can't imagine a Druid filling.

They have healing. They have aoe. They are good at soaking up damage in wild shape. They can scout (wild shape). They can be stealthy (pass without trace). They can break and enter (Wildshape: mouse). I can't imagine any challenge they would have trouble rising to meet.

I have seen a party of nothing but Fighters and the class is versatile enough to work if done right. There was an archer, a GWF, a TWF, a S&B, and an Eldritch Knight. 2 were Champions and 2 were Battle Masters. it worked.

I think a party of Paladins would be the BEST as in most successful at killing things and not dying.

I think a party of Clerics or Bards would be the most well rounded and second best at killing things and not dying.

Rangers and Druids would be really good. I'd probably put the Fighter in this tier with them.

I think a party of Wizards would be interesting. I'm not sure where to rank them. It would be such a squishy party. Probably fun.

I don't think there is enough variation between the Sorcerers and Warlocks to work well. They would certainly be the blastiest party to have ever blasted though haha

Like the wizard, I don't know where to rank a party of Monks. They'd be tough for sure, but there is almost no variation there.

Barbarians? Man I would hate to fight this party. I guess it would depends on how many long rests they get. A party of Barbarians without any rages left would be a cake walk. A party of well rested Barbarians would be nearly unstoppable. I'd like to see it!

If I had to choose one, I'd go Cleric. Paladins are too OP, and a whole party of Bards would be too much for me haha

I'll add that having XGTE and VGTM can change things.

Normally a party of Sorcerors would be well a disaster, no healing, all varying degrees of glass cannons, no front line fighters.

But with XGTE, you have Favoured Soul (healer and minor Creator), Stone Sorceror (front line fighter/Gish), Dragon Sorceror (slightly tougher glass cannon), Sea Sorceror (debuffibg, mobility and more damage).

well... we are kinda playing this...

We have a pbp game where every player designed their character "blind" - no "oh we don't have a healer? I'll play cleric then... cleric OF FIRE MWAHAHA" type of discussions.

We ended up with 2 fighters (one melee (dex-based), one archer), a paladin, a ranger, and a monk. Should be interesting :D

I like the idea of a party of monks wandering around fighting monster in training for a martial arts contest.

Fighter-ish monk: Way of the Open Hand
Rogue-ish monk: Way of Shadow
Cleric-ish monk: Way of Tranquility
Wizard-ish monk: Way of the Four Elements

Perfect.
