A plea

I wish it were so that the Bard was much more
Than pretender of capable classes times 4;
Forsooth, he can heal wounds both light and gory
Whilst fencing with longswords and spouting a story
And yea, he can conjure and abjure and stealth
And act like a Sage when the PC's find wealth...

He can do all of this, but hardly as well
as a dual-classed character and that ain't so swell;
What once was a strength now shows to be weakness -
A class that was normally tacked on for tweakness
Now goes it alone, but falls from the wayside
When other PC's are more capable playside.

The second edition's where Bards did play best;
So WTF happened with 3 E.D.'s playtest?
The watered-down bard has been watered-down still
And with it did taketh the 2e's Bard's thrill.
