Mistwell
Crusty Old Meatwad
Things I could see along this line:
1) Party comes across a lock that needs picking. Between sessions, the Thief player can play an app that is a lock-picking sub-game. If he picks it in the between-session game, he need not role for the lock during the next session. Otherwise he has to role as normal;
2) Party comes across a puzzle in a dungeon. Rather than role an intelligence check to see if they can solve it, or play it all out during the session, it can be a between-session game. Perhaps all players, or a certain number of players, must solve it between-sessions, or even collaborate between-sessions on it;
3) Party is negotiating pricing on something in town. Players can play a between-session negotiation game app to try and haggle prices down, or combine purchasing, or form a new alliance;
4) Members can play a sneaking game app between-sessions, and gain one-time +2 bonuses to a single in-game sneak check if they succeed at the app. I imagine this bonus structure could be applied to any of the above scenarios as well;
5) Member finds a magic weapon in-game with a variety of lesser powers and perhaps drawbacks. Can play an app game between-sessions to discover these various abilities, and learn about the history of the weapon, it's maker and prior owners, rumors about it, etc...
