a Proposition

Recently in my groups campaign, our party died. In a quick thinking strategy, our DM came up with a cool way to bring us back. We were brought back 32 years later in game time. Clearly, our quest was over and we had failed. Due to this, the world had gone to the dogs. Now we managed to root our way through these troubles and return some three months after we died. Our party's main goal right now was, besides pick up on the quest, to reobtain our possessions. For a quick rundown on what that encompanied, greater bracers of archery, belt of haste, ion stone, several magical weapons, etc. (some 100,000 gp in value).
After about 2 months gameplay, we finally arrived in the town, or rather location, we had demised. Unfortunately, our corpses had been found, burned and all our possessions had been auctioned off accordingly. At the moment we have somewhat useful items, however they are shy in comparison with the former. For a quick notation, now at a level 9 party, we are working with level 7 based equipment (my estimation).
Now to some of our group, this revelation was disturbing and upsetting, myself included. My question: Is this a understandable reason to be upset or should we tough it out and hope our DM will be extremely gracious in the upcoming proceedings?

You should probably mention that your old loot pile included several 3.0 items that were nerfed in 3.5 for very good reasons (aside: I'm not their DM, but am acquainted with him), and that their gp value was probably a lot higher than your level merited.

Besides, like you said, your loot is being replenished, and nothing is irreplaceable in a game with true resurrection. Other than that, you need to trust in rule 0. Your DM has "screwed" my characters many times in the past, but I always end up winning the campaign, anyway.

Trust me, being overpowered and having all the equipment isn't all it's cracked up to be. My first fight with a maralith was utterly disappointing because I killed her in one round. Enjoy having to tough it out; the game is funner for you, the other players, and the DM that way.

As long as your DM knows the game well enough to take your less-than-standard equipment into consideration you have nothing to worry about. Either he will be extra generous in the future or he'll make encounters that little bit easier for you. Or he's figured you'll just have to tough it out for a while. ;)

Since I have no idea who your DM is, however, I'm not gonna speculate any further. Either way, my advice is "don't fret over it!"

Oh comon gimp!

I know you are gonna love that dragon bone bow.

We've got enough stuff.

Nothing but clothes? I shall now teach you, young padewon, the Three Golden Words of Happiness Through Which All Knowledge of Munchkinizing May Be Obtained: Vow of Poverty. It I was your DM though, I wouldn't allow it. I certainly wouldn't allow it on a were-celestial-tiger-monk (wink wink), but your DM's been pretty generous to me. ;)
