For me, Dr Who will live long & prosper in the Twilight Force of the Galactica Zone.
ST & SW franchises, viewed as a whole, are about the same to me. While Trek rarely reaches the heights of the original SW movies, it is also never nearly as bad as the 3 that followed. (I'm sorry, but Phantom Menace was
vomitous.)
Twilight Zone, though, revolutionized the market for Sci-Fi on TV in a way no other show has done, and spawned countless imitators: Outer Limits, Amazing Stories, Tales From the Darkside, Spine Chillers, The Watcher...and even Serling's own recycling of it in the form of The Night Gallery.
And Dr. Who is the longest continually running sci-fi series ever- only the Godzilla has a comparable age, and that franchise is virtually movie only.
