A Remake of Manos?

Interesting tidbit: The Island was also a remake of a film that was featured on MST3K...

That was on MST3K? My problem was most of the movies they MST3K I'd already seen.....

Spike Jones and Charlie Kaufman are working on a new project.

[puts on nitpicking gloves]

Spike Jonze is the film director who made "Being John Malkovich" and the video for "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys. Spike Jones was a bandleader and comedian who was popular in the 40's and 50's.

This Manos thing has gotta be a joke. Is nothing sacred anymore? I mean, people complain about them recreating Dukes of Hazzard, which at worst was just misguided, lame and cheesy. But Manos? Can't they leave bad enough alone?

Given that we're talking about Charlie Kaufman, I doubt it'll be a straight remake at any rate. I imagine it would be a sort of meta-movie a la Adaptation. Considering how much I love Kaufman's major three movies, I'll definately be there for this one if it turns out to be true.

Mike Nelson played it sublimely in the host segments of the MST3K ep in question, so he gets my vote.

"I have your crazy bread."

They would HAVE to put that in there.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's an MST3K thing. An only-funny-if-you've-seen-it thing.
