A Review of 6E

I'll stick with 1st Ed. ;-)

The only problem with that is that there is only one known remaining copy of the 1E books, and they were sealed into Diaglo's cryo-chamber along with the sole remaining copy of the OD&D books. In order to play 1E, you will literally have to pry those books out of his cold, dead hands. Considering that he sunk most of the vast fortune he earned running his "Authentic Steam Tunnel Tours" into security for his own cryo-chamber, that's no easy feat.

Speaking of feats, I was pleased to see they cleaned up the Cleave feat tree immensely. It's now a lot easier to figure out the interactions between Cleave, Great Cleave, Supreme Cleave, Ultimate Cleave, Extreme Cleave, Ward Clave, June Cleave, Mega Cleave, Cleave-o-Rama, Cleave It Alone, and Kame Hame Ha Cleave.

Speaking of which: Has Power Attack finally been improved? I mean, only 7.5 points of additional damage for every -1 to hit seemed a bit harsh in 5.75E.

And what about the Succubus´ alignment entry? Still "always lawful good and horny"? Many people I knew who played the Succubus Paladin core class felt somehow limited in their choices.

Knock that off, we weren't supposed to talk about the D&D movies since D&D VI: Voyage to Middle Earth came out...
Hey, I heard they finally settled the lawsuits about that one. The direct-to-holovid release of D&D VII: Revenge of the Flumphs is due out next month.

So did they get one of the evolved Cyanea (jellies) to play the role of the Flumph?
I know a lot of people still don't like to admit that we're not the only intelligent native species on Earth, but really the Cyanea are just like you and I. A family of them just move in to our local Metroplex and although the cats are still terrified they have integrated quite well. I beleive the Pod-leader is an Accountant

(ps if there are any Cyanea online 'Hi' , I hope nothing I said was offensive:))

Is it true the ideal party consists of two players and a DM? I thought it was a bit thin in 5.X E with only three players and now we're down to two! Luckily the poly-classing rules seems to work.

I'm surprised they opted for a further reduction of the ideal party size. It's a pity, actually, because in some of the later supplements of 5.75 E (IIRC) there were some interesting optional rules.

e.g. the supplements 'it's time to party' and 'you've got to fight for your right to (be a) party' describe how a player can create and play a whole party instead of one character. There were some nice core parties, plenty of party feats and prestige parties, and some fun house parties at ENworld.

I'm glad they didn't use the optional rules found in 'the new improved complete unearthed arcana' in which each class got at least an animal companion, cohort, henchman, ally and mercenary! Particularly when combined with the feat 'alternative improved combined cohort companion': I mean: I know we're playing Dungeons and Dragons, but an ancient silver dragon on a leash by a 3rd level druid is somewhat over the top (IMO).

A final note: what about the virtual player (VP) project? Last thing I heard was that it still had some weird quirks: All VPs created were ruleslawyering munchkins only playing druids...

Anyone know if they finaly powered down the bard? They made him pretty sick in 4.5. when they expanded his spell selection, uppsed the power of his music, and gave him more skill points and weapon proficiencies. With the Instant Thrall power and the diplomacy rules tweaks, it was by far the most powerful class in the game.

oooo Bardgasm

Any changes to resolving the figment image spells? I hope not. I feel that they got it right in 5.75. The definition of PC interaction with illusions was clear, easy to adjudicate, and it seemed that everyone could finally agree on using figment images to provide flanking bonuses.

Man, I hope they didn't mess with perfection.
