A Review of 6E

It's true, but you can hardly blame the company for this. They have to design the game to correspond to current demographic trends. Ever since gasoline reached $25 a gallon, it's nearly impossible to get more than three people together in the same room on a regular basis.

It's better than the when dollar's value was removed from "human tampering" and put under the control of that AI, which processed all sales and took the appropriate fiscal action with a couple microseconds delay...inflation ran rampant and the economy went into an everincreasing spiral...good thing the government finally decided to destroy the digital printing presses and let the dollar devalue to something reasonable through scarcity.

It is simply another choice of gaming.

So, any world on Star Wars 4th Edition, which takes into account episodes 12, 13, and 14?

Man, Episode 15 is gonna rock! I can't wait for Attack of the Phantom Sith!

Sigh, it hasn't been the same since they integrated the Prestigous Attacks of Oppertunity into the rules. The death count is so high...

What I want to know about 6th Edition from the time portal:

1. Do stat-buff spells still take three rounds to cast, and last .01 microseconds per caster level?
2. Does haste still impart only an "imaginary" +1 to AC?
3. Do you still have to summon real demons to get your session's experience?
4. Do I have a girlfriend yet?

Ignore that last one.

They just got rid of them entirely.

No. But haste isn't in core D&D; it's only in Magic of Indaria, and only two of the Huntress' Prestigous Classes have it on their spell list.

4.33 and a third edition was an April Fool's joke. Why do people keep forgetting that?

I thought the kids you were dragging around GenCon with you were yours, so I'd assume so.

I have kids? NNNNNOOOOOOOOoooooo!!!!
But at least they'll be gamers, too, so I guess it's ok.

Careful, now, Tonguez. Notice that Halivar is posting from within the United States, and by Executive Order no terms may be used to describe anything that are "really long" or "kind of tough to say" or "spelled weird". Thank you, President Hilton.

Wow, lots of questions to answer! Better sit down to a Meal-in-a-Pill before I start in on this... there, done.

Is it still cross-system compatable with Vampire: The Sorrow and Werewolf: The Pity? Considering Congress outlawed Mage: Unrelenting Unhappiness several years ago...

And does 6E even mention the fiasco of the Crimes Against Humanity Trials of Mark Ren*Hagan, Gary Gygax, Ed Greenwood and Richard Garfield?

It's still compatible, though of course if you plan to use 6E to play in either V:tS or W:tP, bear in mind that 6E does not come bundled with a month's supply on methangstphetamines, as do the WW products. Though some don't care, WW purists insist that it lessens the RP experience without them.

As for the trials, there is an oblique mention on page 1344. They reprinted the old classic "silly somatic component" cartoon (where the wizard is dancing around beating himself with a cane), but the letters "UNCTC" (which stands for United Nations Court of Thought Crimes, of course) are now emblazoned on the wizard's robes.

1. Are you still required to buy all 47 of R.A. Salvatore's Dark Elf Chronicles novels to assemble the registration code to actually open the program???

2. If so, does anyone know where I can find set #33-B?? You know, the one titled Drizzt in Love. Its where Artemis finally confesses his true feelings and they on the Assassin's deathbed. Anyone?

3. I heard that White Wolf is finally releasing Wraith: Hey, You're Dead!. Do we know if it or the much anticipated Changeling: The Only Digital Source Book We've Created With Color Photos will be compatible?? Has anyone heard any rumors?

1. Yes, you are. And it's now 53 novels, though to spare you from having to trudge through novel #51, Drizzt Experiences Intestinal Discomfort, I'll just tell you now that the keyword in that book is "purge".

2. Well, if you can't find it on AmazEbay, you might be able to find a copy by going to a local parish of the Church of the Two Scimitars, though likely the Salvatori monks who preside over the sacred libraries would have purged all the raunchy sex scenes. That might be easier, actually, since according to the last census the Drizzt cultists outnumbered Presbyterians.

3. Unfortunately, the release of both Wraith and Changeling were delayed due to technical problems at White Wolf's satellite offices. Something with the gyroscopic stabilizers nearly causing re-entry. Personally, I think it's just a cover for another internal shake-up.

1. Is the Oghaelome (1/4 Ogre...1/4 Halfling...1/4 Elf...1/4 Gnome) still a Player Race? Rumors abound that its a Prestigious Imaginary Munchkin Race now...and only accessible if you find 7 contradictions within the program??

2. Is it true Mordenkainen himself is re-born into Eberron as the first child produced by a Warforged (with the Female Reproduction Template) and a Kalashtar-Half Drow?

1. The Oghaelome is no longer a player race in the core rules. However, it was just announced that Necromancer Games ("Sixth Edition Rules, Fourth Edition Feel") was given permission to include it in an upcoming product.

2. Well, given that Gr:):):):):):) is now a forbidden topic, I can't confirm or deny such rumors. I will say that the rumor does keep popping up, and from some very interesting sources. It could be that with Elminster already ported over to Eberron as a Warforged Ninja, WotC felt that importing another cross-realm archmage so soon would seem unoriginal.

Does anyone know when will the changes will be reflected in the SDR4?

The Rand(9671406556917033397649408) system still has strong support from 6th party publishers, but getting any of their work out here in the Oort stations costs nearly 6.2 billion credits in bandwidth charges (and don't get me started on intrasystem customs).

Did they clarify the rules on what bonuses stack, give diminishing returns, get along but don't have to like it, coincide and overlap? It's still silly from a flavor standpoint that Nifty Enhanced Improvements to Range for projectiles don't give diminishing returns when fired from ranged weapons with Psycho-magical Energy Bonuses to damage, even if it does make things go faster around the holomap (I really have to recomend the new 4D Chessex holomaps, by the way. Mine arrived last Goresday and it's so much better than my old 3D version).

Sounds like 6.0 is going to be a disappointment for me. Oh well... at least I can still look forward to Duke Nukem Forever
.

The SRD4 has already been updated. In fact, they've already posted version 6.15.

As for the Rand system... well, I'd best not get started on that old debate. Last thing we need is another "Rand sux/Rand rules" flamewar around here, and the last thing I need is for the mods to have to disturb Morrus in his hermetically sealed vault so he can give me another CoC warning.

As for bonuses, yes. They have devoted a full 50 PPE to the subject, complete with charts, diagrams, and a little AI robot that looks like Lidda that will sit on your shoulder and help you figure it out, and will tease you if you do it wrong. THe advice she's already given me on calculating bonuses that "agree to disagree" has been invaluable. And while I understand your argument about flavor, the truth is that it does speed up gameplay. House rule it if you want, but be forewarned that if you do, Lidda will call you a 'loser'.
