Ok, I'm in the middle of deciding on which areas of my homebrewed world will be Cold, Temperate, and Warm. And while I'm not going to stick 100% to real world climates and weather patterns, I do want some realism.
Now, I understand Cold and Temperate fairly well but could use some help in the area of Warm regions, as I've never lived anywhere but in Western Canada.
I need someone to explain the difference between tropical and subtropical climates, as well as explain when the "rainy season" is in such climates.
How much rain do such regions really get? What variation is there in seasons in warm climates? Wet and dry only? How cold does it get in such climates? How rare are hurricanes and tropical storms, on average?
Plus, any direction to good websites and/or books would be helpful. Note that I'm not looking for d20 rules, per say, but such reference material would be helpful too.
