D&D General A Setting! A Setting!

Would anyone watching and participating in this thread want me to expand out of the city into the world at large? I was considering doing some On the Origin of Species type stuff. Also, possibly, how the various planes fit into things. And, of course, the deities. Besides that, folks might be curious as to the areas surrounding Ellindam, though most of the folks here seem pretty pleased to continue to build lore for the city itself.

P. Leo Alce (wingless griffins) || P. Leo Pteron (winged lions)

P. Leo Griffonus or, maybe, Griffonus Griffonus (true griffins)
The possible origins of both wingless griffins and winged lions is either mages or the fey. In the case of the latter, they will have been tinkering with species from the Prime for millions of years to amuse themselves. They could as easily breed for results (using magic to slowly sculpt over time--they are immortal, after all) or use some sort of shape flesh spell to quickly get the result they want then simply have biology take its course with mating until the new species is established.

So Musings:

Beyond all realms lies the Weid: the Realm of Tales. It is an omniversal transient plane that has a mind and will of its own. It connects to all worlds real and unreal. Indeed, all stories created by sapient beings become real thanks to it. It manifests in the form of what is often called the Feywild, the First World, Faerie, and more.

Where Ellindam exists is a world touched by one of the Feywilds. Its Fey are of a more unusual sort. They are all unaligned and they have different Courts than are usually found in most realms:

The Spring Court
Associated with the renewal of the world through spring, the Fey of this Court tend to be youthfully jubilant and have a wide-eyed curiosity about the world. They even tend to look young, with none of the human-like seeming older than a teenager. Animal-fey of this Court are similarly cute. Many members of this Court have wings, whether the stereotypical insectoid ones or more feathery varieties (bat-like wings are rare but possible).
It has connections with the Elemental Plane of Air and the Elemental Plane of Wood.

The Summer Court
Associated with the blazing passions of summer, the Fey of this Court are extremely passionate and a bit over-dramatic. They are all somewhat mature, with the youngest human-like ones tending to appear like teenagers and none seeming older than their 20's to a Human. Animal-fey of this court have similar features.
It has connections with the Elemental Plane of Fire and the Elemental Plane of Storm.

The Autumn Court
Associated with the harvest and maturation of fall, the Fey of this Court are the most mature of all fey and the most reasonable. The more human-like ones look no older than their 30's while the animal-fey are also all mature adults.
It has connections with the Elemental Plane of Earth and the Elemental Plane of Metal.

The Winter Court
Associated with the dispassionate and reflective nature of winter, the Fey of this Court generally have a particular area of interest that they study and are not interested in much beyond it--though they will reward those who help them find new information related to it. The apparent age of the more human-like ones would be around 50's with white or greying hair common. Animal-fey of this court are similarly marked.
It has connections with the Elemental Plane of Water and the Elemental Plane of Cold.

The Eldritch Court
The Fey of this Court tend to have strange features, appearing like undead (Banshees and Dullahans), aberrations (Nuckelavees), or like what might be considered "demons" or "devils" in other settings. As far as the world of Ellindam is concerned they are these beings. They can possess dead bodies that are left unguarded (one reason that cremation is extremely popular). They are NOT evil, however. While some of their members may be malicious or spiteful, others simply enjoy a good prank. Still others are will help those who aid them or even actively go out of their way to help people.
It has connections with the Elemental Plane of Ooze and the Elemental Plane of Darkness.

The Glowing Court
The Fey of this Court who appear fully mature to Human eyes and also have feathered wings would be considered "angels" in other settings. This does NOT make them good, however. While members can be helpful or caring, others tend to test mortals before aiding them. Still others are extremely judgemental and will punish people even for slight offenses to their "moral code".
It has connections with the Elemental Plane of Mind and the Elemental Plane of Light.

For purposes of how I see the Elemental Planes*:

Plane of AirPlane of WoodPlane of Water
Plane of StormPlane of Ooze
Plane of FirePlane of MetalPlane of Earth
The Plane of Cold (Cold damage) and Plane of Darkness (Necrotic damage) are somewhat outside all this. The Plane of Light (Radiant damage) and Plane of Mind (Psychic damage) are also outside all this. Force damage is just a sort of generic magical damage.

*This is different than the official one where the Plane of Metal is between Water and Earth. The Plane of Storm is just that, an eternal storm which has Lightning and Thunder damage while the Plane of Ooze would be a sort of muddy mess/eternal swamp that has Acid and Poison damage.

I will also add that I could see Air, Earth, and Water damage as new damage types, which would match Fire damage. I'm not sure that Wood and Metal damage would make sense (people would likely more associate with bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing, depending on what's being done).
