I always described the sound as very similar to the sound the pod people made in the 1979 Invasion of the Body Snatchers. (sp. the end with Donald Sutherland doing it) - I don't know why, but for as far back as I can recall that's what they sounded like.

Tirsk, i've had that same sound stuck in my head for shriekers since I started playing D&D.

Ben, nice job! I prefer the second one a bit, but both give that nice creepy, alien sound.

...Or have a wife? Record her as she is shrieking at you to get the lawn done, etc, etc. That could also qualify as the sound a shrieker makes.

I would think that's more appropriate for a Banshee.
