A Simple Errand (DM:renau1g, Judge: covaithe)

Once more, Dorn calls lightning forth. He blasts the beast with every ounce of arcane energy at his disposal, drawing energy from his magical dagger as well. (OOC: Lightning Strike hits reflex 25 for 12 lightning damage. I just realized that should be 23 due to prone penalty but that better not matter! I will also apply 4 damage from furious assault (forgot to roll it). While we're at it, Dorn will use his daily dagger power to apply ongoing 5 necrotic (save ends). Saves against this effect take a -2 penalty)

Dorn watches, satisfied, observing the dragon from the relative protection of his shroud (Sustain shroud)

[sblock=R1] Maybe something Odd that you DM handwaved or whatever (and I'm completely cool with that), but I was going over the PRONE rules, and I found out that you CAN'T shift when you are prone. This makes sense for normal creatures who use appendages and such, but if the dragon was and is prone (which you acknowledged in your last post as one of the dragon's statuses), then should he have been able to shift using his sand-cloud power? Again, completely cool with the hand waving (and the power is just cool to boot...a dragon turning into a cloud of sand just rocks!), just kinda curious how it should be handled if I ever decide to use one of these beasties in my LEB game.[/sblock]

[sblock=Prone]
Normally I wouldn't allow him to move while prone, but as it transforms into a cloud of sand, I can't see how the prone effect would affect him until he reforms. It's a bit outside of RAW, I suppose, but in this specific instance I think it falls under hand waving and make this fight a bit more of a nai-biter [/sblock]

[sblock=Prone] Love it! And I agree, definitely not RAW, but makes for a much more FUN (if not better) fight ^_^ After making my post and locking the sucker down, I found my Dracanomicon, took a look at the Brown Dragon again, and went "F**K" cause I thought that might be exactly the kind of thing it would do in that situation, RAW or not ^_^ Completely awesome, and I'm so going to have to do that to my players if I ever use the Brown Dragon! [sblock=ooc]Is it worth attacking while blinded? I'm thinking maybe second wind, but Ingot could take a chance on Righteous Brand... if it hits then it would almost counteract the blinded penalty for Jax.[/sblock]

[sblock=Blinded] Well, you take a nasty -5 penalty to hit, so if you ARE going to attempt something, make it an at-will power. If you have anything that could give Jax a free save vs blind, that would help a lot! [/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Ingot's pretty much down to at-wills from here... Righteous Brand is an at will. Sacred Flame could give Jax a chance to save, but the chance to hit would be quite a bit lower I think. Well maybe not, it does target Ref instead of AC, but Ingot's attack bonus with it is pretty poor.

Ingot does still have Armor of Faith... Fort bonus for Jax in anticipation of next breath weapon maybe? Or AC bonus for him or someone else?[/sblock]

[sblock=tactics]Since Jax can't gain CA while blinded (you must be able to see to get CA), he won't gain sneak attack, so he won't attack. I was planning to second wind on my turn, but if Ingot manages to cure Jax of his blindness, I'll probably do a Piercing Strike.

Anyway, I'll wait to see what everyone else does first.[/sblock]

Ingot shakes its head, trying unsuccessfully to dislodge the sand from its eyelight recesses. Lashed by the scouring sand of the dragons breath weapon, it moves away, trying to put some distance between it and the danger while drawing on its reserves of strength to repair some damage.

Take 5 damage from the zone.
Minor: warforged resolve (+4 hp, 4 THP)
Standard: Second wind (+9 hp, +2 defenses)
Move: to N25
Save vs. Blinded: Save vs. blinded (1d20=4) Crap, this could be a problem. Blinded (save ends) with no attack roll to inflict? Could be a very big problem...[/sblock]

[sblock=breath weapon] Well, the way that I read it... it is specifically calling out being ADJACENT to it... or moving through it, but not being in it. Now I seriously doubt that this is exactly what they meant and it just doesn't seem right to me. [/sblock]
