A Skill Challenge highlights the night...

Awesome challenge! I probably would have required fewer successes for a task like that, but sounds like it was alot of fun to play out! :)
I had a full table of 6 players, so I used the 6/4 model to ensure that everyone had a chance to do *something* even if every check succeeded.

Honestly, I tacked on the skill challenge just to give a demonstration of it. I had no idea it would be so wildly popular. Made me happy, though. :)

Thanks for the report. I'm gonna love skill challenges.
Would someone be so kind as to post a couple links to Oakhurst and Reloaded?

The initiative thing might be more important if there are rules for a contested chill challenge or something like that. I had seen mention of diplomatic negotiations in which the people your convincing will use their skills against you as well. That was awhile ago though and I haven't heard much of it since.

I really liked this example of a skill challenge.I inmediately remembered a scene from my last campaign ( Shackled CIty adventure Path) where the players are required to help evacuate the burning city. In the original adventure players had to fight some elementals and maybe make a diplomacy check here and there. I totally see how that situation could had been handled way better with the skill challenge structure.

Thanks for posting this.

After seeing it mentioned here, I am thinking of making a "skill initiative" (d20 + Int) to represent how quickly one reacts in social situations. It also keeps the quiet player from being bulldozed into losing multiple chances to act by having some sort of initiative order instead of freeform action.
