Let's suppose that we don't know all the races to be in the PHB, yet. I think that's a pretty safe assumption, but perhaps not. Anyway, what about goblins? I like goblins. Or kobolds. Kobolds are cool (dog or dragon). I would be completely happy with Orcs and Goblins as PHB races. Evil can be fun, and goblins and orcs don't have to be Evil.

Fin.

I really like Goblins. Hecks it is the reason why my company made Fell Beasts: Goblins, so we could have them as PCs. It is one of the things I liked about 3rd edition, everything was techincally usuable as a player race without a heck of a lot of tweaking.

I'd rather have orcs as a player race, than half-orcs. Especially since that way it would be easier for WOTC to create a means to create half- whatevers, removing the need for half-elves and half-orcs in the book.

I'd love to see goblins as a full-blown PC race; in fact I'm already working on a PoL region to start my first 4E campaign in that's going to have goblins as an option for players as I'm assuming that the basics are there in the MM for them to be used. If they're in the PHB, well, that'll be even better. I've got at least one player who I'm sure would try it out, and a couple more who'd probably be open to it as well, given the option.

Yeah, goblins as PCs.... I like the idea.

I'd take goblins or lizardfolk over tieflings or eladrin any day.
I like all those (well, in the case of eladrin, I like them to the extent it's possible, considering we don't know a lot about them).

Hmm, now that I think about it, one obstacle towards including goblins would be that we already have a sneaky, dexterous, small humanoid PC race (halflings). I'm trying to think what angle they could take.
