A thread you should see.

About four years and two ENBoards ago, when the StoryHour forum was in its infancy, Piratecat posted a game-log of mine in serial format, with one update per day. The story was well received and fondly remembered (in the same way you might fondly remember a car wreck you witnessed, as you lie awake in the middle of the night).

One and a half years ago, I decided that since the boards had grown so much, it might be a good idea to re-post the TOEE2 logs in order to let newer users have a look at one of the Story Hour forum’s original threads. Piratecat thought this sounded like a good idea, and agreed to write an introduction. He said:

Recently re-reading (the TOEE2), I'm reminded by how damn good it really is. Character death galore. Sneaky machiniations. Epic battles. And an awful lot at stake . . . I hope you have as much fun reading this as I do.

I hope so too.

Take me to the TOEE2.

9 out of 10 Rat Bastards Agree.

Of course, it’s not just Piratecat who likes the thread. Other ENWorld posters agree:

God I love this story. I have it printed out in a binder. I'm going to reasd the whoollllleeee thing again now. Because it's Eeevviillllll.” -- ForceUser

I wish someone cared enough to kill my characters with such an unwavering sense of purpose. Gather ‘round boys and girls, this is the real thing” -- Morrow

Thank you (cntxt)! Just what I needed right now.” -- Dinkeldog

Yet another reason never to leave the house.” -- Kesh

Seriously, one of the best ever SH threads.” – Rel

I prefer to read stories with pictures.

The logs are also illustrated, at one drawing per day, memorializing a scene from that day’s log.

That picture is AWESOME! Worth a thousand words... well, a thousand words in anybody else's Story Hour, that is...” -- Wulf Ratbane

(The drawings) add that extra serving of pathos to the already teeming banquet of carnage and black humor.” -- Barastrondo

Loved the original story, and now it is even better with illustrations.” – Corwyn

Here is an example illustration, from Chapter 1:

Everyone should do themselves a favor and check out this story hour. It's the one that inspired me to write a story hour, lo these many months ago, and I'm sure it's provided inspiration to many a scheming, dastardly, inferiority-complex-ridden DM who wants nothing more than to see how many PC's he can kill before the group abandons him. The death toll is high, the comedy low (-brow).

Comedy + pathos = story hour goodness. You almost start to feel sorry for the hapless PCs.

Almost.

Strongly recommended. I read the original thread in two incredibly slow afternoons at work; it sucks you in and won't let go.

Check it out!

Come for the legend [(contact)] and stay for the new stories!! I'll be reading this for the first time as I was not around during it's first go around. Make sure to check out the likes of Enkhidu and dshai527 (link in the sig), Spider_Jerusalem, cthuluftaghn and Bob Aberton just to name a few.

Hello,

I'm not a RBDM, but I play one on alternalte Satudays. I'm hear to tell you about (contact)'s RttTEE reposting in the Story hour forum.

If I was to say that this story was simply brilliant, I would be understating the case enormusly, and doing (contact) a grave disservice. It's better than good - it's yummy and not bad!

I have not been compensated in *any way for this advertisement, especially not favored status in getting lazy-ass (contact) to update his other story hour "The Risen Goddess." A tale by which the mass murderer Taran, and his contemplative brother Thelbar bring light and life back to the world in the form of thier rediscovered goddess Ishok.

...please stay tuned for further Story hour updates.
