A (very slightly) modified fighter

Question about Uncanny Blows:

Don't you think it's a little weird that the fighter gets more effective with a one-handed weapon used in two hands than with a genuine two-handed weapon? Do you think it would be too powerful to allow the fighter to gain the double Str bonus to damage to two-handed weapons too? Perhaps a high BAB prerequisite would justify that change.

Well, a real 2-handed weapon deals more base damage, so it could be overkill.

I figured that was why you set the ability up the way you did. Do you think having a high BAB requirement (or a high fighter-lvl requirement) would offset that somewhat? I'd set it as something like "Ftr lvl 15th". If the fighter at that level has a 30 Str, he's doing an extra 5 pts of damage, and an extra point above that for every 4 pts of Str. Doesn't seem too far over the top, IMO, considering how much damage a fighter of that level lays out anyway, and the fact that the fighter has devoted 16 levels to the class.

I was wondering if you would discuss (explain) any ramifications of allowing Stunts earlier in the career or more often (every time a bonus feat is offered beyond 8, for instance). In looking at the class I don't really see any problems with such an action save for the fact that it appears to diminish the 'flavor' of the Stunts as unique and special, and I was hoping you had more inisghts as you spent more time with the class.

Every 4 levels seems right.

It's in line with Weapon Specialization at 4th level, and it makes them a semi-rarity, that urge people to continue progressing in the class. If you are only interested in 3 of them, and you could take them instead of bonus feats, then it would be at levels 6, 8, and 10. Then, a prestige class. This I don't want.

Also, it helps make them more "class abilities" and less "feat".

Finally, it lets fighter choose feats from time to time. I think they wouldn't otherwise.

That's fairly cool; Weapon Specialization could become "just" another stunt, although I'm not sure if restricting it to purchase every 4 levels is necessarily good.

I knew some solid logic was behind it but I didn't see it at the time. I am convinced.

I like the idea of integrating Weapon Specialization into the system of stunts. But I would then change the stunt requirement from Weapon Specialization to Weapon Focus.

Then you would get your choice of a stunt or a feat every 4 levels starting at 4th level. Weapon Specialization would be a stunt, and you could use a stunt with every weapon you had weapon focus with.

It would thus make it a lot easier to get the +2 damage with numerous weapons, but +2 damage is not all that scary imho.

Having to spend fewer feats to get weapons you could use stunts with- that would make the alt.fighter more powerful at higher levels, but that would be a good thing, I think. High level fighters are a long way from being as scary as clerics and wizards, after all.

Gez, what do you think?
