A Whole Bunch of Zombie RPG Questions

As a huge zombie fan, i find that AFMBE is THE and THE ONLY Zombie RPG out there. I have tried other rules, and even the d20 modern conversions in the revised book for a Zombie game, and nothing comes close to the feel that AFMBE has for Zombies. At first i was turned off by the size of the book, but i tell ya, that was one buy that i never regretted. I have gotten more use out of the Main book than i do out of my Players Handbook and DMG. To me Usage is more important than content, books size and page count. You can have a book that is 400 pages cost 50 dollars and have only a few uses for it, and using only like 60 some pages of material out of that 400 page book. I have bought books that looked cool, and i wanted to have, but have only used it once or twice, and now rots on my shelf, money wasted for a product i barely use. I am constantly thumbing through AFMBE and other source books, and it is those books that i use the most now adays, espcially since i am thinking of giving up DnD for a while, and run Unisystem. I find the versatility of Unisystem to be one of its greatest strengths. Heck all you need to do is buy the one book, and make up your own stuff using those rules. SJV on the AFMBE message boards has written up some awesome material, and posted it online for all to use, using Unisystem/AFMBE stuff. And trust me this guy has written some impressive stuff. I think he even did Giant Mutant Spider rules using AFMBE/Unisystem rules.
Dont let one source book that dosnt Appeal to you ruin the whole system. I have Zombie Smackdown, and i enjoyed reading it alot. To me i feel that you are missing out on something that you know little about. Go buy it, and trust me, you wont be disappointed. I know i wasnt.

The adventure you're thinking of is Night of The Walking Dead. I have to agree with Voadam in that it is really well written DND adventure for something like level 3-5. It was great fun and one of the most memorable games we played in.

It is for levels 1-3 (even though the module itself states that the party should have at least nine levels. AND it is available for free download from the WotC website (check the Previous Edition Downloads section), along with the rest of the Grand Conjunction series.

While I haven't played it, YOTZ struck me as real nice when I read through most of it. Blood and brains was nice too, but a different feel. BaB would be cool with my regular D20 Modern campaign (and I have used a bunch of it), whereas YOTZ is better as a self-contained and much grittier and dark game. I haven't played or even read AFMBE, but I've heard good things from folks.

Unfortunately, while their initial relase held promise (even though the book seemed overpriced) their release of the Zombie wrestling supplement (as their second release, mind you) totally turned me off to the system.
News Flash: Gamer's Righteous Fury sticks it "to the man" for releasing a sourcebook he doesn't like! Entire line invalidated and in chaos!

Film at 11!

[/sarcasm]

Get over yourself. All Flesh is the best one out there. Here's an idea...skip the wrestling sourcebook!

Best New Word EVAR!!!

A free MODERNIZED shirt to the first person who can slip this word into a completely innoculous conversation.

Try to make it natural (no "so I was driving along and - zompocalpyse! - and this girl was just..." or similar shtick). We're working on the honour system here, folks... I just want to know that someone actually managed to use the word "zompocalypse" outside of a message board.

Seriously. Free shirt. $15 USD value. Get conversing.

On a side note... by the look of Ralts' sig, we can expect a supplement named Fleshmongers for Year of the Zombie. Any chance you could let us in on what that might be about, Ralts?

Thanks for recommending the Zombies!!! game Talien. Played it for the first time and had an absolute blast. I'm ordering all the expansions next.
My pleasure. Always happy to corrupt new minds. :)

Dude, you're not buying All Flesh Must Be Eaten because you think an optional supplement is stupid? Wha? Would you stay away from D&D 3 because you thought Ghostwalk was silly? :)

I just don't get where you're coming from. AFMBE is a really solid zombie apocalypse RPG that's played straight. If you see it at a store, you really should at least thumb through it.

Slavers. The real scum of the Post Rising world. Methods, mode of dress, strategies, equipment, bases, etc. Like all things in the YotZ line, it's rated M for Mature.

BUT....

I'd like to hear a bit about your zombie RPG experiences. What appealed to you, what didn't appeal to you, what made the game fun, etc. What got you into the Zombie scene in the first place, etc.

"M'oht" will appear in the Katrina Charity PDF "Cajun Arcana" coming out from Dog Soul in the near future. I'm not sure what they have decided to include in that, but they were sent a setting, about 6 advanced classes for d20 M, flaws for PCs, and a variant damage system all for a game of "High Conspiracy Red Neck Zombie Horror" TM by yours truly. We have had some discussion of later finishing it up with some more rules (particularly monsters) and more feats etc and producing a source book. However, I have about 3 projects on me right now not counting the day job(s) and will be gone most of October, so don't expect more than what they put in for the near future.
