Level Up (A5E) A5E + alt-5E = ?

Let me guess... The people who don't like to many options and chose fighter in 5e now are overwhelmed with options of an A5E fighter?

Have those players tried to put their maneuvers with more visibility (like maneuver cards)?

(When playing with physical sheets I always try to bring all spells/... As cards, printouts, ... So I don't have to check any books during games)

Yeah, they're basically the same design space. It'd be like giving a wizard spells and a new magic system.
Yeah, maybe there's a part of me that would like fighters to become the best class just to spite everyone who has screwed them over since 1e.

I think stances have to go unless purchasable via level gated feats.

I would feel bad throwing all the manoeuvres out altogether as they are very flavouful and cool. I wondered if there might be a way to introduce a couple as short rest abilities for some signature moves.

Yes cards are one option. We have been playing some of the same characters since 1e, others since 2e and 3e, so if we convert them over to a new edition usually inbolves a period of adjustment but the manoeuvres system feels like the biggest change from 5e to A5E.

I will take a look at the cards today.

Another simple option if they've got a cell phone:

This way they can pick a martial tradition from the drop-down list, hit the "Degree" heading, and tap whichever maneuver they're looking at using on their next turn.

Then just hit "Back" on the browser tab to get back to the list.

It's about as fast as maneuver flash cards, and it keeps less clutter at the table since it's all in one phone.

The downside, sadly, is the lack of a tactile physical item to hold and look at and turn over. Cards are -way- better at providing a physical connection to the concept of an ephemeral playspace.

Yeah physical cards for me I think. Can you get a set with the physical book?

$20 for the cards.

Does not include the new Martial Traditions from the Gate Pass Gazette (Arcane Knight, Beast Unity, Eldritch Blackguard, Gallant Heart) or any 3rd party cards, obviously.

I couldn't even tell you which ones I picked. We're all middle-aged now and learning a lot of complex options is just that bit harder. The sanguine knot one but the other pcs are still a bit in 5e mode and beyond flanking and higher ground, we haven't really vibed with synergies yet.

I was toying with things like using a manoeuvre when you spend inspiration or when you roll a critical as an alternative. Action surge was once per short rest.

Alternatively, using improved second wind might be a bargain basement alternative on top of masteries. Just spitballing.
I too am middle-aged, as are most of my players ;)
I'd suggest a deck of maneuver cards- that might even be a product? I'm not sure. I don't run much A5E in-person, it's mostly online for me.
I'd suggest checking out the Adamant Mountain, Razor's Edge, and Rapid Current traditions if you just want straightforward kickassedness. Sanguine Knot is very much a teamwork tradition requiring tactics.

Frankly, RAW, fighters and berserkers ARE the best classes in A5E if you know what to pick. There are some options that are very busted if you don't nerf them. But there are a lot of trap options in there that could use a buff as well.
But even with the fixes I apply, they're probably still better than casters in many cases.
