I know, but the idea of it is traditional, and it's not a huge leap to apply it to other spells such as scry.

I don't have the 3.5 PH yet, but in the 3.5 SRD this information is in the section on Divination spells in general. It states that a creature with an Int of 12 or higher (why 12? I dunno!) can notice the sensor by making a DC20 Intelligence check.

This actiually answers another question of mine, or more importantly a player of mine, about claiaudience/clairvoyance, which is now described as a divination [scrying] spell, and therefore subject to the same limitations...
