Aasimar In Particular, Planetouched in General

Merlion

First Post
I finaly got a brief look at Races of Faerun today. I concentrated on the Planetouched section as I have always been fond of them...mainly Aasimar and Genasi.
The feats for Aasimar in the book are wonderful...you can grow wings, create daylight, shoot searing light out of your eyes all sorts of nifty ways to develop your heritage...much the same for Genasi. I think my next character is likely to be an Aaismar, probably a bard(I've played an Aasimar bard once before), or a Genasi elementalist.
What do you guys think about Aasimar on all levels?
Also for anyone who got a better look at races of Faerun, with the Eyes of Light feat can you only ever use it once a day even if you have Light to Daylight and can therefore use light/daylight 3 times a day? Actualy any details especialy prequsites of those feats that anyone remembers and would be willing to type would be greatly apreciated.
But mostly I just want to discuss the planetouched races especialy Aasimar.

Can't help with your question, but I did want to respond with Wow. Didn't realize it had cool stuff like that. I'm an old school Planescape fan, so I might very well pick that book up for later use.

..are you an Aasimar fan?

Becoming one. I had considered playing an Aasimar Paladin/Cleric in a my next game.

Could anyone be so kind as to list all of the Aasimar related feats and a general description of what they do.

I'm planning to get the book, but I havn't had the chance/cash yet. I'd just like to know what I have to look forward to.

Specificly, what are the prereqs for the wings. That is cool. I'm thinking of playing a characters that is basicly Tyr's angelic judge, jury, and exocutioner.

EDIT - I'm surious about the Teiflings as well.

Well, I'm not sure what you want us to say, but I've also been a planetouched fan for some time. It's a shame, really, that RoF didn't develop the two newish races from MMII, though.

~groans~ I HATE the way Tyr is portrayed but I digress.
I dont actualy remember the details of a lot of thefeats I only looked briefly. but for the wings you have to have the Celestial Bloodline feat(prequisite +1 base bonus in all saves, lets you use Protection from Evil 3 times/day and Bless once/day) and it may also have base save bonus requirements(most of the Aasimar and Tiefling feats do...for the wings it may have been like + 3 or 4 to will or fortitude not sure). Theirs also a feat(it might not have had any prequisites besides having Light as a racial ability) that allows an Aasimar to use his Light ability to create Daylight and gives you 2 more uses a day. Then theirs one that lets you project Searing Light from your eyes once a day(or possibly more) in lie of a use of Light. that one I believe also requires you to have Celestial Bloodline and there may have been other requirements...theirs also a rather odd feat that gives you an affinity with animals and celestial animals of a type associated with your celestial/deific ancestor...it gives you like +4 to Animal Empathy and Handle Animal with such animals...possibly other benefits I didnt really read it. I think that was all the Aasimar feats...Celestial Bloodline, Light to Daylight, Eyes of Light, Outsider Wings and the animal one the name escapes me.
Anyone who remembers the specfics of thease feel free to chime in

I remember when they were introduced in Planescape, and I thought they were cool then. One character in a game I ran was a female aasimar, daughter of one of the Valkyries of Ysgard. Gung ho fighter, very cool.

I also really like the Genasi and Tieflings. Nice races, as long as they're kept exotic and there isn't one everywhere you turn.

I just was curious of peoples opnions of those races...especialy Aasimar, on all levels...roleplaying, mechanics etc.
I personaly like them because they give you a hint of celestial or elemental hertiage and association without it being stifling....and their not so powerful that you have to deal with massive level adjustments.

Excellent, I hadn't realised there were goodies like that in RoF. Conveniently, I just ordered it ten minutes ago..I know two of my players will be happy now- One is an Aasimar Paladin of Helm, the other an Earth Genasi Fighter.
