Aberrant D20

Man, you sure are dedicated in your testing! :)

After I wrote that I realized I would likely get called out for it. The answer is: yes. I did stick with it despite my dislike. But my players liked it, they had a good time and really enjoyed the story I had put together. But when Mutants & Masterminds came out I finally gave in and said 'this system sucks.'

Of course, if you want a really dark secret, here goes: I grew to dislike the Abberant combat system so much that I did not make character sheets for NPCs. I had nothing on front of me except story notes when we had fights and combats. I just rolled dice, told players how badly they were hurt and then did the same when the bad guys were hit, just ending the fight when it got late or when it seemed like a dramatic moment.

There. That is my deepest, darkest RPG secret now revealed.

i think you need to change your screen name now! ;)

i'm interested in taking a look at Adventure! d20, but since i've been fully satisfied with M&M for my supers gaming needs, i doubt i'd pick up Aberrant. especially since i never particularly cared for the deconstructionist nature of the setting.

I'm a big big fan of Trinity primarily, but teh whole universe in general. I've got every Trinity book published (plus all downloads). I've also got Adventure and most of Aberrant. I agree with the thoughts that aberrant is far to clunk in combat to bother with. I also think that adventure, whilst great fun for a one off does not have enough room for character development on the characer sheet when played over a campaign. That's two big reaons why I'm really looking forward to the Aeon Continuum D20 books. I doubt that Trinity will be as good in D20, but I think they can give it a good go. Having seen the preview for Adventure I'm really looking forward to the possibilities of that, and can also see how it could fit into Aberrant nicely too. I wasn't a big fan of the Aberrant setting (too much like Vampire in Lycra for my liking), but Adventure and Trinity are two of my top favourite games.
