Absolute BEST Core PrC

1. What is the absolute BEST Core PrC for a Fighter?

2. What is the absolute BEST Core PrC for a Rogue?

3. What is the absolute BEST Core PrC for a Cleric?

4. What is the absolute BEST Core PrC for a Wizard?

5. What is the absolute BEST Core PrC for a Ranger?

6. What is the absolute BEST Core PrC for a Sorcerer?

7. What is the absolute BEST Core PrC for a Druid?

8. What is the absolute BEST Core PrC for a Barbarian?

9. What is the absolute BEST Core PrC for a Paladin?

This need not be rules oriented. I'm just as interested in your opinion if it comes from a Roleplaying perspective. Answer any or all depending on how confident you feel about your own ability to character build or based on your playing experience, please. :)

(I have no real interest in the Monk or the Bard but feel free to comment on them as well if you care to.)

Cleric/sorcerer ---> Mystic Theurge

I've only played this as an NPC when I was GMing, but it was forty frosty-cold ounces of pure malted magicky roleplaying goodness.

Bard --> Sublime Cord. aside from req lots of usless skills (13 listen, & 6 prof. astrologer, etc) This class gives bards nearly the power of a high level sorcerer. In some ways stronger if you concentrate on the bard spell list. (13th lvl char casting Otto's Dance 1/day)

for wizard/sorcerer --> alienist has just wonderful flavor & RP potential

My biggest complaint is that a paladin cannot fall from grace and become a blackguard without a level of thief (hide 5) and perhaps fighter, or lucky feat placement (improved sunder)

There are only 3 core classes in OD&D(1974). with Supplement I Greyhawk they added the optional Thief class. all other classes are PrCs.

Rogue/Wizard ---> Arcane Trickster

Wizard ---> Loremaster

Any particular reasoning behind these choices?

Interesting comment but is that really the case?

I can only speak about myself and the Loremaster. The Loremaster is a class that´s fairly easy to attain for a wizard, and is plain better then the Wizard. 2 more skillpoints per level, and special abilities every level.
The abilities aren´t very impressive maybe, but at least he has some. And they fit the image of the wise and knowledgable wizard a lot better then the "real" wizard class...

The thread was obviously based on current edition. If you're not interested in that, then perhaps responding in this thread is not necessary.
