You link this person?! This isn’t helping you or him.
Me: Clicks on the link. "Oh huh, that's an interesting name, I wonder what's so objectionable about this person."
Me: Clicks on their Twitter. "I already have them blocked? That's a bad sign. Wonder what for..."
Me: Clicks View Posts. Scrolls down and immediately see incredibly transphobic content. "Oh, that's why."

I think we all know what kind of people, philosophically, politically, and socially, this kind of content is created for. It's a sort of people one would hope would find a community more tolerant to that kind of ideology than here. Seeing how hostility of said ideologies is absolutely necessary to making this a welcoming and inclusive space for the broadest group of people, one wonders why this product is seeing such a swell of support from this forum.

Because its a great game, that does everything I want a D&D-like game to do? And because I don't have to agree with someone's politics to appreciate and enjoy what they make.

Unfortunately he seems to also be a person who is directly working to make the world a more hostile and dangerous place for some of our fellow forum members and other innocent human beings.

Which is why, despite all the intriguing things I've heard about this game, I have not bought a copy. Despite being tempted for nearly ten years now.

I can understand the general concept of divorcing art from artist. For me, if the artist works toward ends I find detestable, I choose not to support them with my money. Once they have passed away or if they reform their view and actions I no longer have the conflict. Your conscience may make different demands on you.

I think maybe "politically" was a poor word choice on my part. A "political" disagreement I might have someone would be over tax rates or government budget allocations. I don't have a problem buying something made by someone I "politically" disagree with.

If you're a significant part of a media empire who, among other things, actively worked to get people to fear and hate people like me, that goes quite a bit further than a "political" disagreement, which means that not only will I not support this person but I will strongly advocate that nobody else does either.

Well, he may have different beliefs than I do (he definitely does in fact), but I don't see him doing anything to make other people's lives harder.

If you're talking about the Milo thing, as I said I've heard his side on that in his own words just yesterday on the Autarch Discord in the acks-general-chat.

And is it an incredibly sincere and heartfelt apology for all of the pain and suffering he and his company inflicted on every single one of its targets? Is it a complete and total repudiation of the vile dehumanization he and his company peddled and a commitment towards helping heal wounds that he is, in large part, responsible for?

Is it any of that?

I'm excited to get the Judge's book PDF first and just go full SimEarth and build up a setting from random tables. And then make a bunch of custom classes, lol. I haven't gone deep sim in a while, should be interesting.

What's your measure of "doing"? It is an action to speak a bigoted slur. Does it make no one's life harder if all I do is call them a bigoted slur? Do I have to hit them? Is trying to get a law passed to get an innocent person harassed and jailed "doing anything"? How about raising money for a politician who advocates for that law?

In the linked interview, Macris cites gay marriage as an issue conservatives lost ground on thanks to the Overton Window shifting, in the context of discussing his efforts to work to shift the Overton Window in the opposite direction. Is working actively to repress the rights of innocent people not "doing anything"?
