AD&D Comics

In part because I'm pretty positive they'll never be worth anything, and in part because I haven't read them in years, I'm thinking of pulling my old-ass AD&D comics out of storage and giving them a read.

I think I have a mostly- or totally-complete set of Forgotten Realms and Spelljammer, too - it's been so long I've forgotten.

Does anyone else remember these? I was a big fan when growing up; I loved the occasional stat block in the back of the issues. I remember them being pretty okay, but I was also like 14 back then. :)

The comics came up recently in this thread. I have a complete set of the AD&D, Forgotten Realms and Spelljammer DC comics, but I seem to be missing the Dragonlance annual to complete that series :(.

Heh, from what I can tell, you can get just about any of them dirt-cheap nowadays. I think they're probably the same price now as they were in the late 80's, if you count for inflation. :)

Almost any of them. The Dragonlance Annual seems to be in peculiarly short supply, unfortunately. So much so that there appears to be some doubt about whether it was ever actually produced.

You know, I remember seeing ads for the annuals, but I seem to remember only three--AD&D, Forgotten Realms, and "TSR Worlds", the launch for the Spelljammer series.

I also own some of these comics... I can't remember how many of each, but I know I started buying them as soon as they came out, meaning I have the beginnings of each series. Did they ever finish any story lines? My recollection is that they just stopped.

Yeah, I had the FR comic- I was missing prolly four or five issues out of the whole series. It was okey-dokey; I liked the oni/ogre mage early on.

Favorite line from the series (IIRC): "Silly wizard, there's no such thing as invisibility to a dragon!"

EDIT: Although, as with the modules, the touch of the Avatar trilogy pretty well destroyed the series.

I got them back in the day and still have them. I take them out and re-read them every five years or so. I think the AD&D title was best but I love Waterdeep and they stayed a bit more serious The FR title could be goofy especially with the Avatar stuff, as mentioned.

I, too, am wondering what happened with Meredith and the ship.

Did anyone read the ones from about ten years ago? I don't remember who put them out but they were limited series comics. I remember liking most of them but they lacked . . . something. Maybe a central cast or place? It was tough to get into the stories at times for me when each one introduces new people and places as well as the adventure.

Aren't there new comics coming out soon?
