[Adamant Entertainment] THRILLING TALES - Pulp for D20 Modern

I'll do an all-in-one reply here, so bear with me:

As a thought, have you considered Pulp Future, a la` Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon? (Or are they too Saturday morning serial?)

Actually, I have considered it. I did a one-page RPG thing for a column I wrote for RPGNet a couple of years ago called "Rocket Patrol" which I might revist using these rules.

The original column can be found here.

What's the source for the art? Those are nice.

Digital collage with elements taken from original pulp covers, courtesy of Garden State publishing, Argosy Communications, Conde Nast and a few others.

(Paraphrased) CHASE RULES!!

In fact, we've got a set of chase rules being written by EN World's own Barsoomcore, intended to be usable for ANY D20 system game, whether Modern, Fantasy or Future. Once we've released that, I'll be grabbing the core of the rules (excuse the pun) and adding write-ups for Pulp-era vehicles for a THRILLING TALES-specific release.

Have any of these classes been play tested? I mean used in a on going game?

Well, that's actually two different things. Yes, they have been playtested on this end, but in a series of one-shot adventures, rather than an ongoing game.

And they're coming along VERY nicely, I have to say. Third round of playtesting and editorial is going on now.

These rules are going to let you get profoundly cinematic with your chase scenes -- the goal is to make the "chase scene" as integrated in d20 as combat. So just like the combat rules let you do lots of cool stuff you see in the movies, the chase rules will allow you to play out Raiders, Road Warrior or James Bond-style chase scenes.

Without any specialized prestige classes, feats or skills. 100% compatible with D&D, d20 Modern, Mutants and Masterminds, Grim Tales (actually the inspiration was Benjamin's AWESOME work in that book -- in some ways this is really an expansion on those rules (which were of course an adaptation of the Spycraft rules)), Spycraft (speaking of which...), Skull & Bones (the first playtest was in my Skull & Bones game -- episode coming up in my Story Hour "Dead Man's Chest") -- I can't think of any d20 system this wouldn't work with. As long as you've got Drive or Ride skills with DCs comparable to the SRD, you can use these rules.

They're coming out as part of Adamant's d20 MasterKit line, and should slot in VERY well indeed into the "Thrilling Tales" stuff.

Keep your eyes peeled! You're going to like these rules.

Allright - I'm in for the subscription. This whole product line looks just like what I was hoping for. My next campaign, which should start late next year, will hopefully be a d20 modern pulp game set just prior to WWII... Evil necromancer Nazis! Tommy Guns! Clunky Robots! Tesla Coils! Yeah!

Thanks GMSharka!

Excellent! Thank you, jtb!

Just a quick reminder for anyone who's been considering it--Tomorrow (12/31) is the last day that you can get the bonus of all December products when you sign up for the subscription. After that, it's only products from the time of purchase forward.
