[Adamant Entertainment] THRILLING TALES - Pulp for D20 Modern

Okay... THAT'S cool. And a good deal. How long will this sale be going on?

All year. I will simply be reducing the price every month, as the subscription only lasts from the point of purchase forward.

Edit: By the way... thanks for listening to people's concerns. That puts the price per page at a VERY respectable number.
Well done.
*applaud*

Thanks for the compliment. But really, that's why I started the thread--to hear what people want.

Yeah... but you did something nearly unprecedented ....
You paid attention to what people said they wanted. :)

My hat is off to you, Mr. Skarka. Not only have you listened to customer feedback, but you've responded in a creative manner. The throwback to Decoders is absolutely precious. :)

Well done.

I've announced this elsewhere, so I'll repeat it here: We've added a subscription option, by which customers can get every single THRILLING TALES product released in 2005, a guaranteed minimum of 360 pages of material, for a single purchase of $29.95.

Ah....um....Touche?

Freaking nice.

GMS,

According to your press statement on the Secret Squadron site, you've released 7 Thrilling Tales pieces...and I only see two.

If you havent released the other 5 yet, do you have dates (approx) when you plan on releasing those? Also, if we order now...would you be able to include those releases in the subscription?

I'm very tempted to come back to this line, but I don't want to be left out on 7 classes....2 I could live with (and would probably buy, just not really wanting to by 7 individual classes).

Also, as asked earlier...any plans on compiling the classes any time soon, and would they be included in your package deal?

Actually, I said:

"Adamant Entertainment released 7 Thrilling Tales products in December 2004,"

We're less than half-way through December. :D

(The press release came from the RPGNow product description, which was being written with the knowledge that it would be read throughout the coming year.)

The rest will be released between now and 12/31. I'm currently in layout on the next 3, and the 2 after that are in final draft stage, so I have every reason to believe we'll hit our mark.

...and actually, I'm going to go ahead and amend the offer: If you order now, I'll include ALL of the December releases as well (including the two that are currently available).

Well, Jez... you can't beat that with a stick.

Money... meet mouth.

I think I'll pick this up as soon as I have enough in my PayPal account.

IMHO, Pulp is all about dark anti-heroes, street justice, vigilanteism, hot broads, risque night clubs, strange and unique murders (see CSI for tons of that), vigilanteism, lots of firepower, romance that nearly gets the hero killed, romance that usually involves the hero's love interest being no better than the villains the hero is facing, vigilanteism.

Sounds more like film noir than pulp...

"Pulp" can be a tricky word, because some folks use it to mean "rip-roarin' adventure" [Doc Savage, John Carter] while others mean "hard-boiled noir" [Sam Spade, the Continental Op].

Eberron actually tries to introduce both flavors of pulp into the mix --- tricky, because they are really two very different genres.

Yup...and as a pulp collector and obsessive, using the word "pulp" as a genre descriptor bugs the living heck out of me. Pulp is a medium, not a genre--it would be like referring to something as being in the "television genre". Pulp was a medium that contained many distinct genres: Hero pulps, science fiction, mystery, wierd menace, westerns, horror, espionage, etc. etc.

But, when in Rome....

:)
