Adamantine axe?

It makes that distinction very clearly in the MMII, under Damage Reduction. Lots of people don't like it, just as Stalker0 said, but there it is.

Ah. Nice of them to put it in the errata for the DMG, where a normal person would expect to find it.

I see they've also apparently redefined mw weapons as giving enhancement bonuses instead of an unnamed one.

I can't deny that I've wondered about this myself. :)

Sort of, but you're mistaken about the context of the bonus, even it's first inception. In the DMG (as well as the SRD), the adamantine writeup specifically states that it does indeed grant an enhancement bonus. The only difference between the two books is that the DMG calls it a "natural" enhancement bonus, while the MMII restates it as a "non-magical" enhancement bonus. In short, adamantine always provided an enhancement bonus. It was never an unnamed bonus, despite the confusion.

Er...I was talking about the masterwork bonus, not the adamantine one. In the PHB, masterwork weapons give an unnamed bonus (that does not stack with an enhancement bonus). In MM2, it says "non-magical enhancement bonuses (such as those of masterwork or adamantine weapons)" - thereby implying that the masterwork bonus is now enhancement.

Don't you just love these moments when some WotC "guru" leaps out and redefines the way things work, THREE YEARS after the fact?

As MMII has yet to reach the dark recesses of the galaxy in which I live, does it actually try to motivate this seemingly random and inane decision?
Three years? I wouldn't complain too loudly about MM2 not reaching your "dark recesses" if you got 3E a whole year before the rest of us!

(Incidentally, I wholeheartedly agree that it's ludicrous that the core book errata aren't updated with such things.)
