Adamantine Quarterstaff

Why couldn't a quarterstaff be made of metal? Sure it'd be rather heavy, but with a sufficient strength score it should be doable. Magic of Faerun has rules for heavy weapons - that might work as well.

So a heavy quaterstaff would do 1d8 damage and have a -4 to hit penalty without the appropraite exotic weapon feat?

I would essentially be a worked, 6 foot long, rod of Adamantine?

This is, of course, if you ignore that one line in the SRD that says you can't make a quaterstaff out of adamantine.

On another note, what if there was an martial weapon that was a metal version of a quarterstaff. (1d8/1d8/20/x2) That isn't good enough to be exotic right?

Then the heavy exotic version would be (2d6/2d6/20/x2), that seems far cooler. Are my numbers right?

*shrugs

if you can't make the quarterstaff out of adamantine, take an ordinary wooden staff and encase it in a thin sheet of mithril. Boom. Stronger and more damage.
