There's a great example of a skill challenge in sneaking into the Stedding of the Hill Giant Chieftain.

The skill challenge is awesome, shows what can be done with skill challenges. The trap is also very sneaky, you could just cut out the hit/miss part and use the effect, will confuse players no end. Another possibility would be to tie the hit/miss part of the trap to the minotaur and only use that when the party are i combat with him . . . . .
