Adding a dragon to the party?

yay i read that too it also says that good colbolts protect their territory like it was their family or something close to that. Im thinking its going to adopt the dragon born before he has a chance to adopt it, and protect the family the way it would his won kingdom.

I agree, make the dragon "adopt" them as you put it. Even if it's protection is ineffective and cute (maybe with occasional benefits), they're bound to care.

In my experience, it's hard for PC's (even the most cold-hearted) not to have some investment in a creature/NPC that takes an interest in them. Even my player whose vampire had a willing servant found a soft spot for her before too long.

It decides one piece of treasure is it's "hoard" and can be found curled around it at night making weird baby velociraptor noises as it dreams of defending it's hoard.

These types of dragons love weapons and armor that have a lot of value (maybe a lot of work put into a sword, a really powerful magic item, or jewels all over the item). I think the very adventure after the dragon hatches, the group will find a dagger. This dagger will be made of complete silver, with a topaz (or some other stone of worth) in the hilt. It will have a lot of work put into crafting it and it will be worth more than another item they have found thus far. It will also be a perfect start for the dragon's horde. That will cause a little problem with the dragon, but i think me players will find the dragon worth more than the dagger.

That will be awesome to see. You need to tell us what happens when that occurs :)

this was like three pages in but arctic asked for it so here you go.

The dragon is now following the Sharda-kai around, because he is a creature of the shadowfel and the dragon born died :P. anyway the dragon took a really spend dagger the group found right out of the hands of the invoker. Now whenever he starts to look things he tells the dragons new friend to keep it in his "nest" (the backpack of the player) really its fun the dragon's horde is worth more than all the groups stuff put together due to a rusty sword and shield that the dragon took and latter found out that its worth a lot. They gave him a simple of the good dragon god (i know his name just can't spell it) and wears it at all times now. The group also found a teddy bear, to witch they gave to the dragon. he now carrys the head of the teddy bear around in his mouth when ever he leaves his nest.
