Adding a spell to a ring.

Say I have a ring of spell turning (casts it 3/day) and I want to also add the ability of casting Death Ward 3/day as well.

Question #1: Is this considred adding a differnet abiltity or not? I am unclear on that. The desciption in the SRD seems to make it sound like adding another spell ability would be similar, but adding a saving throw or attack bonus would be different.

Question #2: If it is a different ability do I increase the cost by x2 or x1.5? The table in the SRD say x2 but in the description of adding differnet abilities it says 1.5. I am confuseded, please assist.

It would be considered adding a new ability.

Although as far as I know no erratta has hit, it would make sense that adding an ability to a slotted item multiplies the price by 1.5. If it were x2, nobody would ever add an ability to a slotted item, because it would cost the same as creating an entirely new slotless item, but leave you more vulnerable to thieves, dispels, and sunderers.

1: It's a different ability.

2: The description of it in the DMG (3.5, pg.282) says x1.5, so I'd use that rather than the table.

I believe that the PHB erratta specifies that descriptive text trumps tables when a dispute occurs.
