Adjustments to Ranger Abilities

See, I was debating that one. Because from my experience, most players take a short rest after an encounter. My thinking was that since you only roll initiative once, resetting the ability after a short rest effectively makes it active all the time unless you really push players to have multiple encounters before a short rest.

But otherwise it seems good? I tried to incorporate your input regarding simplifying it and using existing rules rather than basing things off the UA Ranger.

If they are getting rests after every fight I'd definitely make it recover on short or long.

Ranger is at-will and long rest for their abilities. Fighters get a good boost from 1 encounter per rest style.

Encounter pacing makes a big difference on class parity.

The rest seems viable. The original idea is workable too, I just have a preference for reusing pre-existing mechanics for ease of use at the table.
